「Lovely warm cosy home-away-from-home」

「The River Lodge is a beautiful property set in lovely grounds. We had a large beautiful room, very comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and a balcony with a wonderful view of the mountain. We had fabulous breakfasts and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only downside is that it is quite remote - about a 10 minute drive into Ohakune.」

「When you pull up it doesn’t look very inviting and a bit dated BUT when you enter the apartment you will be blown away! All brand new appliances, beautifully decorated, and spacious!!! Highly recommend.」

「Property was good for its location. Understandably there are limited dining options in such a sparsely populated area. Gas station was under renovations so we were unable to refill gas in town which was slightly inconvenient.」

「Clean and comfortable. Smart TV and modern furnitures. Great place and location. Upstairs is very warm when it’s sunny. The place is well equipped for a family; washing machine, kitchen etc. Love staying there! Wish there is an English Breakfast or Earl Grey option for tea instead of just peppermint or chamomile or green tea. Apart from that, it’s at the end of the cul de sac so it’s quiet.」

「Really nice hosts! This is a bit of a hidden gem, the name may suggest more of a summer vibe but this is a great spot for a winter weekend mission to the mountain. They don’t have many rooms which is kinda nice as is keeps things pretty quiet. Heaps of parking space close to the rooms and the spa was great after a day on the mountain. Simple, very clean and well priced with great host! Not much more you could ask for. 」

「Nice, cosy place. Great location just a couple of mins from carrot playground and shops. Kids really like it, and it works well for us too. Will definitely be back again in the future. 」

「除了隔音稍微差一点，其他条件非常好，比我们在奥克兰的汽车旅馆都好，房间干净整洁，暖气老板开得很足，淋浴水很大，汤加里罗里地区寒冷，回来一个热水澡非常舒服！早餐也非常好吃，面包管饱，吃饱早饭去徒步，饭后消食~~嘿嘿~~回来在一个热水澡，酒吧里，来杯暖暖身子，生活美好也不过如此！」

「Parking is right out front. Some short hikes nearby but you probably need a car to get to longer hikes. Cute little bars/ dining areas one about a 25 min walk and the other right around the corner. Think this hostel is more popular in winter for skiing but room was great and kitchen and shared spaces were cute and homey.」
