Beautiful Resort. Staff was so welcoming. Fernando in the LaCatina bar was super. As was out wait staff around the pool. Ralph and Kevin arrange a wonderful whale viewing trip! After the people the facility was great. BIG rooms. Comfortable beds. Views from the front and back of the rooms were amazing. Food and drinks were very good. The ala carte restaurants were very good and it was nice not having to play the reservation game. Pools were heated and warm. First time I have had jacuzzi pools that were really hot. The grounds are amazing with much greenery. The area definitely is away from PV. About a 25 minute drive. But that is part of the charm. Beach does not compare to the ones in Cancun but the water was much calmer. But the focus of this resort is definitely the pools. I have been to Mexico many times in many locations. This place easily moves to number to on my list. I definitely will consider returning. Any issues about safety as well were quickly lost in the feel of the resort and PV!

This hotel is on a small bay about 45 minutes from the airport. The bay is filled with many boats so is not as beautiful of a view as other resorts I have stayed at and doesn’t feel welcoming to swim with so many boats in the bay very close to the shoreline. The buffet for dinner was closed every night so only al carte option with long wait times, and no reso option only FCFS. Very Americanized food options and minimal authentic Mexican food at the property. However the property is very well maintained, very clean and modern for a Mexico resort, good drink options, excellent spacious rooms, great clean large pools with a swim up bar. Overall if you’re not too much of an ocean person it’s a good choice!

We were on lock down due to the cartel lighting cars on fire. The staff was amazing even though they weren’t allowed to leave the property either. Smiles and kindness. The trip was a little stressful but we all enjoyed it. I would go back.

We upgraded to an ocean front view when we arrived. Staff were absolutely amazing and so very accommodating. Food was delicious. We stayed for one week and the food was great every time. The resort itself was clean and staff remained on top of clearing out plates as needed. Towels were always readily available. Because we travelled during commotion the resort was not as busy as it would normally be at this time. We loved the experience and were told that if it had been during normal times then it would be a lot busier which was good to know. They have shows every night at 9pm. We attended two of them and were blown away. The staff are incredibly talented and you can tell they truly enjoy their work. It was amazing and I cannot stress enough how everyone should attend!!

Resort was amazing. Food and staff were excellent. We were they over the cartel stuff and the resort did a great job keeping everything normal as they could staff work 24hrs because they could not leave the resort they were exhausted but kept working. We tipped extra for there hard work. We will he back. Thanks for keeping us safe!

Our stay at Barcelo was 10/10. The rooms are huge, pools are great with lots of chairs, and the staff are so sweet and helpful. We had an incredible stay, thank you Barcelo Puerto Vallarta!

The room was huge! And very clean! I did have some lack of hot water in the morning but was quickly resolved. Concierge was very quick to assist. Very nice resort

We spent 6 wonderful days at Barceló and were so sad to leave. We will definitely be back. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. We especially appreciated the waiter Moises for his great service, and the entire entertainment team with Anahi (we loved the guacamole making class) and Fernando, who brought great energy with his dancing and poolside fun. Our biggest standout was Carlos at the Kids Club, with his infinite energy! He and his team made our kids comfortable and excited every day. We did not expect to use the kids club, but our kids loved it so much they kept asking to go back. Our 5 year old enjoyed crafts, painting, musical chairs, and face painting. Both kids loved piñata making, the Mario Kart tournament, and evening activities like the Mexican party with candy. The beach was beautiful, and one day we even saw a humpback whale breach five times in the bay. We went whale watching with the Jack Sparrow tour company at the hotel and the crew was fantastic. It was also fun recognizing the exterior, hallways, and pool from Apple TV’s Acapulco. Our favorite day was Mexican Day. The buffet was excellent with fresh fruit, juices, and Mexican food, and the show was great. Weekends felt bigger than weekdays. A few minor downsides: limited non alcoholic drinks, basic coffee options, language barriers at specialty restaurants, an extremely cold room with no HVAC fix, no do-not-disturb signs, very thick pillows, and slow disappointing food at the Kyoto restaurant.
