Quality Inn University

10/10 Excellent
"This was a great room for the weekend we were there. Close to the MSU campus and many stores. The room was clean and roomy enough for the four of us. The breakfast options in the morning were good, something for everyone. We were too tired to enjoy the pool and other things provided for entertainment, but it was great to have that option indoors."

When is the best time for a budget trip to Portland?
Weather is probably a major factor when you plan your trip to Portland, and keep in mind that cheaper options are usually available when the weather isn't as good. The hottest months are usually July and August with an average temp of 68°F, while the coldest months are January and February with an average of 28°F. The snowiest months in Portland are January, March, February, and December, with each month seeing an average of 10 inches of snowfall.
What is there to see and do in Portland?
You won't have to spend a fortune to get to know Portland. You can budget for the local attractions that interest you most, and then make time for sights and activities that cost little or nothing at all. Take in the local culture at Ionia Theatre and Ionia County Museum, or enjoy the area's natural beauty at Ionia State Recreation Area.
How can I get to Portland and get around on a budget?
Scoping out the transportation options in Portland is a smart way to keep your trip affordable. The nearest airport is Lansing, MI (LAN-Capital Region Intl.), situated 17.2 mi (27.7 km) away. However, if that doesn't suit your budget, you can arrange flights in and out of Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR), which is 31.8 mi (51.1 km) away. Portland might not have very many public transit options so a car rental could be a reasonable alternative to explore the area.
