The resort was not huge. It was the perfect size and close to the beach. I liked there weren't crazy party people all over - just everyone enjoying the sun. The hosts and staff were happy and helpful.

Great location with beautiful beach access. We arrived early and the GM gave us our wrist bands right away so we could eat and drink so that was great. We also were into our room by 10am so didn’t have to wait until 1500. Smaller resort which was nice and food was all inclusive decent with the breakfast omelette being excellent.

We enjoyed our stay at Margaritaville. The room was beautiful and clean as were the hotel pool and general facilities. Breakfast was good. Our only complaint is that we were very surprised there were no beach chairs for guests set up. Disappointing for a beachfront resort! We were told you could request these, but that felt a bit discouraging. Also, days after eating the breakfast buffet every day we found out from another guest you could choose to order a la carte instead. It would have been nice to know this. Overall though a beautiful place and an enjoyable stay. Good restaurants and shops within walking distance.

We have travelled to Costa Rica 7 times now. Margaritaville is one of oir favorite spots , small , clean , staff are friendly and helpful . Amazing with the kids . Food is good . 3 Restaurants to choose from . Best drinks at the pool bar . Rooms were great , large , beds are comfortable , air conditioning was great . Beach amazing . We will return definitely.

Highly Disappointed; I specifically paid extra for a pool room view with a king bed, and unfortunately that is not what I received. Instead, I was placed in a ground-level corner room. Although it was technically a “walk-out,” the patio faced a cement half wall and a bush, there was no actual view of the pool from the room. The only way to see the pool was to physically walk out and around the bushes . When I spoke with reception, I was told the only alternative available was a room with two queen beds, which did not match the king room I had booked. Since I specifically requested and paid for a king bed, this was not an equivalent option for us. Overall, I feel I overpaid for what I received. I expected the room category I selected and paid a premium for. While the staff were polite, the resolution offered did not reflect the difference in what was booked versus what was provided. I’m really unhappy about it - this was a surprise booking for my husbands 50th birthday and it definitely did not meet my expectations. I’m highly disappointed

Great resort located on Flamingo Beach. The resort sits off the Pacific Ocean so the water is very beautiful and very rough. The property is beautiful, located in a beautiful small area that has a plaza right across the street and a Marina within walking distance. This is a great location for couples even though the resort is open to families.

What a great place! They say if you love your job, you'll never work a day. I've never seen staff who were as happy to be at work. Everyone was smiling and cheerful every day. Their work reflected their attitude. Everything was clean and well maintained, and things were always done right. The pool was sparkling clean each morning. The room was always made up perfectly. The restaurants were all excellent with very attentive staff. The pool bar was exceptional. Great drinks created by happy, smiling bartenders. Don't fail to have a cheeseburger from the 5 o'clock somewhere grill! This is truly a bit of paradise. I'll single out just a few. Scott, the manager, deserves credit for keeping his staff happy and performing the way they do! Carol at the front desk, Elias, Juan Pablo, Felippe, Nadezca at the pool bar. Mabel, our perfect housekeeper. The maintenance guys who are always smiling and hard at work. The landscaping crew who keep it looking great. All the waiters and waitresses at every restaurant. This was a top notch experience. I'll also recommend the sunset catamaran excursion from the marina. That was a highlight. We'll definitely be back!

We enjoyed a great family stay. Comfortable beds and room for all 5 of us. The pool was great. Really appreciated the covered kids pool. Though would have like to see more shade/umbrellas at the pool. Or less people (who seemed to never show up) saving those seats with towels. The swim up bar was a great feature and all who work there were friendly and kind especially to our kids and their seemingly non stop pina coladas. All the food was good. Though disappointing to buffet other than at breakfast. From what we understood this was due to lower occupancy. Although the daily buffet theme was still advertised on the activity’s board. Live music at the 5 o clock somewhere bar was excellent both nights we went. The beach is beautiful and only a few steps across a sandy road to get there. Security guys happily got us chairs when we asked. Location was great with the marina and bit of shopping close by. Felt safe to walk. Definitely would stay again at Margaritaville Playa Flamingo

mixed bag. more of a 2 star hotel than a resort. The setup with the beach was a real letdown. we knew there was a road between beach and hotel, but it is chaos, dirt road traffic jam all day, dust, honking no space on beach for hotel guests (competing with public who bring tents chairs etc. plunk down around main entrance). no shade, lots of people. beach has little depth also, so we didn't really go on it although it's the main attraction. the property is cramped and nestled between beach entrance and only road; tons of people walking on road next to parking entrance. Rooms small, gym lobby upstairs need updating, food was ok more like diner style, + tiny buffet, tiny indoor seating not really any ac. Italian resto was acceptable have to book at 7 am. we had all inclusive, but food very limited, only one "main" resto besides Italian resto, both small, + pool bar for small meals. for the price we paid (very high) i was expecting more. maybe this is the smallest Margaritaville in the chain. I don't know, first time. if i had to do it again in guanacaste i would probably pick a Large resort like Riu palace directly on a private (because cliff at each end and more remote) beach and a lot more affordable.
