"We had a poor experience and multiple issues with our room and were informed by reception, "sorry, this is the standard"....
1) I accept not all rooms have a sea view, but ours was looking into a cliff face with virtually no natural light entering the room... For 230 euros! The room felt like a utility closet that had been repurposed. Unacceptable.
2) The room had a mouldy, putrid smelling AstroTurf 'terrace' that faced said cliff. See attached photos of the florid mould.
3) The WiFi in the room was broken / could not even load a WhatsApp message.
If this is the 'standard' that Occidental hotels holds themself to then they should reclassify this as a 2-3* hotel. I have stayed in cleaner, better 3* hotels for 1/3rd of the price.
We would certainly not recommend anyone stays here or mistakes it for a luxury experience.
It is a box-ticking "4*" hotel which on closer inspection does not live up to this grade. "
"
Lovely, friendly staff and a good variety of food. Drinks were okay, but the all-inclusive cocktails weren’t great. Rooms are very dated and the hotel could really do with a refurbishment, plus a gym would be expected for a 4-star. Great bus service to the beach and Mogan."
"Lovely relaxing break, well located with good choice of places to eat, on site and within easy walking distance in addition to the choices in town which is an easy 10-15minute walk. Staff very friendly from the moment we arrived"
"Terrible. My husband ended up in hospital for 2 nights after eating in the A La Carte. He had prawns, the most likely cause of his acute, rapid onset violent symptoms of D and V with subsequent loss of conciouseness. They deny all and refuse any possible causitive link with his illness. "
"We were sadly disappointed with part of this stay. We travel frequently with Airbnb & Hotels.com. I return to Hotels because normally, we are very pleased. This was not one of those times. Our check-in was very long. We had to hand over passports a few times for they couldn’t find our reservation. We asked for hotel restaurant for some lunch. The gal who helped us check in wasn’t informed that there was indeed a spot we could have more than chips, snacks, as she said.
Our room was beautiful with ocean views. Bathroom sink was clogged. I asked twice for it to be fixed. When our room was cleaned they took the dirty towels but forgot to replace them. The hotel info says mini bar in room. There is not one.
The service & breakfast buffet is incredible all around. We had a barbecue Dinner one night which was very nice. Staff very helpful & kind.
Pool was magnificent. Swam every day. The dinner shows were amazing! Flamenco Dancers were incredible!
The vibe is cruise like. The guests were either with young ones or 60+.
Overall we wouldn’t return. But, we had a wonderful time overall. The nearby beaches and boat days are a must! They gave us a late check out for our troubles. "
"The room was a lovely size and very clean .We got a sea view which I asked for.The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good with plenty of choice."
"I stayed for three nights and had a very pleasant experience. The staff was warm, courteous, and extremely helpful — thank you again for assisting me in finding an EU power adapter.
The breakfast buffet was excellent, considering the room price. It was honestly as good as the breakfast at a five-star hotel I stayed at later on the island.
The hotel is guest-friendly, with water, fruit, and snacks available throughout the day, which I really appreciated.
The room was spacious. While my room was older, it was well maintained and comfortable. My only complaint would be the shower — the water pressure was quite low, and the tub was on the smaller side and was the only thing that was not dated.
The town itself is quiet and tranquil, and the hotel is conveniently located right in the center, making it easy to access shops and take care of daily needs. The surrounding area is also beautiful, and I found driving around to be a pleasure wherever I went.
Overall, my stay was relaxing, and I only wish I had scheduled a few more days.
