The exterior was in disarray but the rooms were surprisingly clean!
The property was poorly kept but you get what you pay for. The room was only 100.00 a night. Sheets and towels were clean. The bathroom door had something splattered on it. The overhead light didn't work in the room and the hair dryer didn't work either.

Room was clean and in excellent condition - apparently they have totally renovated since earlier reviews that mentioned severe problems. The exterior could use some paint, but the room was perfectly clean and fairly spacious. All the little things, like good A/C, shower temp/pressure, a working mini-fridge, etc., were completely fine.
Complaints: I couldn't get the WiFi to work.
Also: it's not in the most scenic part of Pittsfield, but it's just minutes from the nicer areas, and a short walk to fast food or decent chain restaurants like Friendlys, Applebees, and Starbucks.
Nice quiet and clean room, was good for us to sleep the night.

I like to stay in excellent properties and give excellent reviews. This property looked unimpressive from the outside but the room was actually quite good. With a bright, clean bathroom, it was reasonably spacious and had been outfitted with a good list of amenities such as an ironing board and more. A good room at a cost less than typical of the area, at least in August during Tanglewood. I appreciate the care put into that.
But some things were less good. The man at the reception, who I take to be the owner, was curt and frankly rather unfriendly. I understand: this is a tough, demanding business that also appears to be a family affair. At the same time, guests need to feel welcome. That was not the case here. Hard as I'm sure it sometimes is, the person at the desk needs to put forth a demeanor that will make guests feel happy they have come. That didn't happen.
They need to cover up the signs pointing to a fitness center. Turns out there is none. It is not good to disappoint guests with offer of an amenity that isn't there.
And the alleged free wi-fi, as it says on the sign outside. My friend and I had 3 devices between us, staying in 2 different rooms. None of the devices could access the internet. When we asked at the desk, we were told that there had not been a problem and all the other guests were happy. Seriously?!? For other guests: if having wi-fi doesn't matter, fine. But if that is something you want, this motel may not be the best choice.
In total: mixed.

Rooms were much nicer than expected. Despite the somewhat dated exterior and overall first impression from the outside, the rooms were solidly good, clean, and comfortable. Good value for the price.
I called to check that it was alright if I arrived after 10:30 PM. I was told no problem. When I arrived the front door was locked, no one answered the buzzer. When I called, I was told that someone would be right there. 7 or 8 minutes later, I called again and asked how long it would be. Should I wait in my car or at the front door. He refused to answer me and just said he would be right there. 5 or 6 minutes later he showed up. A total of 15 minutes I was waiting in an unlit parking lot. I would have been more comfortable in the lobby.
The next day, my key did not work. I could not enter my room. Again I rang the bell and called the number. It went straight to voice mail. There was an older woman in the lobby with a child. She clearly was connected to the establishment, perhaps a relative. She would not let me in. When I explained, she waved me away. Eventually, I saw a younger woman cleaning rooms. She was nice, let me into the room and fixed my key card.
Clearly this is a struggling family-owned enterprise. I sympathize. However, it was priced as a moderately priced motel, not a run down facility with poor service. Other than the young woman, the staff was rude. A simple, "I am so sorry to keep you waiting" would have gone a long way. Offering people shelter in the lobby would have helped. The older woman could have let me in and called someone. The manager could have buzzed me in remotely. None of this would cost much and could result in repeat business!
