A bargain in a different downtown area.
Beautiful old building full of architectural quirks but running down after an older reno. Guitar-shaped rooftop pool and roof bar now closed, which made the stay less fun than last year. No tv or fridge in the large rooms. I got a new, comfy bed. This non-tourist bit of downtown is a short walk from everything with wide streets and little traffic...!
My room had a window that was poorly sealed, so A/C on high could just barely cool it down. Someone with a keycard opened my door at midnight and woke me up -- front desk denied it was them and claimed they have no idea what happened. Wifi is spotty, and sometimes randomly disconnected. Breakfast is a weird set of lunch/dinner items (noodle soup, pad krapow etc) with no coffee or beverage included, so I had to pay extra for coffee. Also, the food caused immediate intestinal distress.
