This is our third year staying at the Normandy hotel. My mother was having surgery, and due to unexpected expenses, I booked our stay with Expedia for 5 nights. Upon arrival, we checked in with front desk staff Alex. From the beginning of our interaction, he was impatient, quick-talking, and rude. We had a problem with our room, I booked a suite for my family of 3 and the room had one king-size bed. I spoke to Alex, at the front desk again and he said because I booked with Expedia, there was nothing he could do or will do. I was in disbelief, we spent 1,500.00 to stay at the Normandy Hotel and this is the treatment we get! Alex, in my opinion, is a bad front desk person. I asked to speak with a manager and was told that no managers were available. Before long I got a call from Sylvia, she is one of the front desk staff that helped facilitate us getting another room with two beds. She listened to my concerns and offered a solution. I am so thankful for her hospitality. I wish I could say that our stay was pleasant, Again we had an interaction with him, my husband called the desk to ask about the wifi, and Alex, told him because we booked through a 3rd party we don’t have it. Then yesterday I called Normandy Hotel to ask about a $53 charge and sure enough I got Alex, he said the charge was for WiFi! and other things. I felt because I booked my stay through Expedia, I was treated differently and made to feel less than by Alex.
