"The check in was great, friendly staff & we had a much earlier check in as the room was ready, which was appreciated.
The room we were given wasn't however in a great location - Room 588 was a stand alone room with the entrance literally behind some kind of cafe. So the noise of the generators meant the entrance was awful.
The room was great however with extremely comfy beds & a decent shower. The view over the harbour however was not...The balcony was directly below a restaurant so that meant it wasn't the picturesque view we had seen from other apartments. There were also seagulls everywhere, making a lot of noise which yes i know is to be expected by the sea but over our room it was especially bad due to the restaurants either side.
There was no air con in either bedroom & only a poor ceiling fan that did nothing, meaning sleep was fitful.
We used the gym which was decent enough & went to relax around a small pool which was also lovely. However the cocktail bar attached to it had no staff in it & you had to keep going into the attached restaurant to ask for a drink....kind of defeats the object of having a pool side bar no?
The resort is massive & clearly people come here for a weeks break. For the price we paid for 1 night it was fine but if i was staying longer i would not have accepted the room or it's location. "
"The room was very clean, bed very comfortable. The area for me wasn’t safe. There’s no secured parking, the cars park outside in front of the shops, even though there’s cameras but it’s on the main road and it’s a busy road. There’s no WFI also."
"Stayed in a self contained apartment, not front line sea as the hotel. Bad smell in general in the apartment. O manager on site and the staff was not to helpful "
"Lovely studio apartment right on the beach with fantastic views. Very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Lovely friendly staff who were very helpful. The only slight disappointment was that the pool didn’t appear to be cleaned during our 4 night stay. There was an automatic cleaner but due to the proximity to the sand the pool really could have done with a good manual clean. "
"DO NOT GO THERE
The hotel markets itself as a beach front hotel for families... You are required to pre-pay your stay.
However, when you arrive, you will find a hotel situated meters from big and dirty industry, all premises deeply polluted by iron ore dust. The red dust is everywhere, red stuff running down from the roofs. And you can feel the smell of ore in the air at all times.
No family should be staying in such conditions. And no kids should be playing on such polluted beaches.
We left after half a day. We were not going to stay there with a small kid longing to play in the sand on the beach...
When you turn the attention to the problem to hotel management they just note that they are not responsible for "external environmental factors"... and they are not willing to refund.
May I ask, if you are responsible for your own messages in advertising!?
DO NOT GO THERE!"
"We loved this place! The ocean view from our room was spectacular. We checked out a few other places in town that are more expensive and the view from the Linhof is the best! Breakfast was excellent. Shirley, the manager who runs this place, merits special mention. She helped us get our bags upstairs, served us our breakfast and always had a smile and a kind word. We will definitely return."
