Swim with whale sharks, walk to a picturesque waterfall and kick back at waterfront resorts at this town on the southeast coast of Cebu Island.

Visit Oslob to enjoy once-in-a-lifetime wildlife spotting activities and relax on splendid beaches. Go bird-watching, picnicking and snorkeling on an isolated sandbar island. Spend the night in the comfort of tourist-friendly resorts. Oslob sits along the southeastern coastline of Cebu Island and stretches back into a region of rugged hills.

See a slice of colonial island history in the town center by visiting the Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church. Admire the perfectly manicured flower displays and lawns at Oslob Municipal Plaza. Spot colorful fish in the clear water at Quartel Beach. Here, Spanish colonists are said to have tortured the island’s indigenous people.

Travel south to Oslob BeachOpens in a new window (aka Tan-awan Beach), a white-sand beach backed by palms and lapped at by crystal clear water. Get up early to watch a magnificent sunrise. Take the opportunity to see whale sharks, the world’s largest living fish. Observe these majestic creatures from an outrigger canoe or dive into the water and swim alongside them.

Walk or catch a motorcycle taxi to Tumalog Falls. Marvel as bluish-green water spills down rocks covered in lush green vegetation. Cool off with a swim in the waterfall’s natural pool. A short drive away is Aguinid Falls, a five-level waterfall cut out of limestone rock. Climb up the different levels, take a dip in the swimming holes and try cliff jumping.

Another enjoyable excursion is to Sumilon Island, a small sandbar island reached via a 20-minute boat ride. Paddle in the ocean, picnic on the beach and follow trails to observation decks and a lighthouse. Book a room at the island’s resort and treat yourself to a night of luxury.

Oslob sits 75 miles (120 kilometers) south from Cebu City. Public buses travel between the two destinations. Rent a car in Cebu City and have the freedom to explore the delights of Cebu Island at your own pace. Resorts spread along Oslob’s waterfront and are ideal places to rest your head after a day of adventure.
