I really enjoyed staying here - the building style and layout was cool and creative, and I liked the bar/music element. Dozens of restaurants and shops were right around the corner - it was a cool area to explore. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. The only thing I would note, is that the room I stayed in was not very easy to keep warm. For the duration of my stay, I had the heater on full, which was only just able to get the room to a comfortable temperature (was there in winter). Other than that though, I would definitely recommend staying here!
While the quaint building was left as it was, the interior was newly renovated, including the bathroom and other water facilities, making it easy to use, and the area around the bed was clean.
However, there were two staff members, one of whom seemed to be a new employee, and she kept asking the other staff member who was checking me in what she couldn't do herself., and continued to talk about their job with other staff member when I drunk in the cafe, which was inappropriate and unpleasant behavior in front of guests. I would like to add that other one wasn't at fault in this case.

This is a very average hostel.
Positives:
--Right by a shopping street so lots of food options nearby.
--Very clean, including the bathrooms.
--There is a nice bar/cafe located in the same building.
--The AC in the bunkroom worked well and the beds were comfortable. I got great sleep here.
--10 minute walk to Okayama Station.
Negatives:
--Towels cost 200 yen to rent, which seems silly. Every other hostel I've stayed in provides towels for free.
--The bunkroom is a little cramped, and I did not feel there was enough storage room for luggage.
Overall I thought it was a very average hostel experience. I would stay here again as it is cheap and in a good location.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Location was nice. Room was quite cramped and the stairs to the second floor were odd and difficult to climb. Staff was very friendly and all the facilities worked well.
So doors do not open until eleven so can't drop luggage off so don't bother arriving early. If that had been on the website I would have used a storage locker at the station and gone back later in the evening. So you had best be okay with heights. For the dorms 1 through four you have to use a spiral staircase to reach the area where the dorms are. Have fun getting a backpack or suitcase up and down those. I was there the middle of April. The dorm I was in was full no air conditioner, no fan, no way to open the window because there was no screen and mosquitoes were out in force. Humidity in the 80 percent range. So unpleasant. There four bathrooms only one of which working. Two said out of order and the other was locked not sure why. So compared to the others I have stayed in not to be recommended.
