Enjoying the scenery of Nyanga
Beautiful scenery of the World's View and the national park. But the road to the resort was not good and conditon of the hotel was around 3 stars. But it was calm and cozy.

It’s very nice and cool, excellent location with a great weather, friendly staff. Expedia booking did not go through seems there was a disconnect with the property
I used to stay at Troutbeck back in the 60s as a child and this was a nostalgic trip for me. For the most part everything seemed to have been beautifully maintained with the top rooms having had an upgrade - all seemed brand new and the bed was soooo comfortable. The staff were beyond friendly and helpful and even gave us a free upgrade. I love that they honour Major “Mac”, who I remember well, as he developed the dam, pine forests, and the hotel, and gave support and upliftment to the local community. The road to Nyanga from Harare is good, and I encourage anyone thinking of going to do it! They need foreign visitors and it’s such a wonderful experience. The lake and World’s View are magical.
Loved our stay. The views are spectacular! The staff, amazing. You feel welcome from the moment you get to the gate. Shoutout to Mr Webster, Mr Exavier and Mr Edgar (amazing cocktails) Ps all staff are amazing just got to interact with these gentlemen a bit more. Serene and great place to relax. Great for couples and it’s family friendly as well. Wasn’t able to do many activities due to the cold but if you don’t mind it there’s lots to do. A must visit! Will definitely visit again soon 😊

Staff did its best to cheer and serve us but our morale was down due to No power most of our stay.
Troutbeck did not disappoint. The staff was very welcoming and accommodating. It was cold in the evenings and mornings but the rooms had electric heating pads to make the beds warm and comfy. The big hearth fires were a nice place relax. Good menu selections and breakfast buffet.
The hotel and the town itself was absolutely lovely. Wouyhave preferred a bigger selector food and drink options but we were staying mid week so maybe it would be better at the weekend.
Shout-out also to Froggy Farm in Juliasdale which makes an excellent place to stop on the journey to the resort.
Clean and beautiful ,serine views and neat rooms.Just a heads up,not a good idea to book with them whole they host a conference, the place then over crowds and you get poor service if you are not part of the conference ,
Only Leonard and Xavier were good at customer service. The manager called Roy is young and inexperienced. No hot water for two nights despite Alerting the duty staff. It is no longer that Troutbeck we used to know back in the days.
Relaxing oasis in Nyanga. My room facing the lake was nice, if a bit worn around the edges. I arrived without a reservation and asked about rates. I knew it was a bit less expensive online, so the receptionist assisted me with WiFi so I could book online. All of them were exceptionally helpful.
Had a light lunch when I arrived. There was a large group taking part in an outdoor lunch buffet, even though I asked about service when I entered and sat at the tables away, I was pretty much ignored along with others not in the group. After waiting for a long time, I finally went into the pub and ordered. When I returned, my table had been taken by members of the group. Eventually it was sorted. A bit of management which could focus and direct the staff across the entire area would’ve helped. Breakfast was the typical buffet affair as other large restaurants have.
It was quite cool when I arrived and continued into the night, great luxury to tuck into a bed warmed by a heat pad/blanket underneath!

Needs updating
Troutbeck is well located in a scenic area, staff are very friendly, and there is plenty to do. However the hotel has not been updated for decades: the fabric (carpets, chairs) is old and rather worse for wear, the decor remains as it as in the 1970s. It trades too much on its past and offers poorer value for money than others. Unfortunately there is currently scant competition.
