I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it’s important to share my experience. Upon arrival, the room was extremely hot and the air conditioning was not on. There were large insects throughout the unit despite doors and screens being closed. I immediately brought this to the attention of the front desk. I was told there was nothing they could do and was not offered an alternative room. I could not afford to relocate on short notice, so I remained for the two nights. By the second day, the room developed a visible ant infestation. At approximately 8 PM, I was provided with a can of insect spray and expected to address the issue myself. Additionally, I intended to use the in-room safe during the day, but it was not functional due to missing batteries. Throughout the stay, I felt uneasy and uncomfortable. While I understand this is an eco-style property in a tropical location, the level of heat and insect presence went beyond what I would consider reasonable for a hotel stay. This property may suit travelers who are comfortable with a very open-air, rustic experience. However, for guests expecting a sealed, climate-controlled room, this may not meet expectations.

Highs and lows

Some things really great, some things not. Would probably have found some place else if I knew about rule forbidding flushing toilet paper. Love the idea of using containers for rooms, but craftsmanship was off a bit. Breakfast was awesome! Location beautiful!

Noite nos containers

Uma experiência quase monástica, com alojamentos em containers, sem TV, consistente com a proposta de desconexão, mas, o preço é alto pelo que oferece. Na noite na minha estadia as companhia elétrica fazia manutenção e aguardei a volta da energia por 4,5 horas. Quando isto acontece ficam sem luz, ar, ventiladores e água. O desjejum é excelente. Complemento e com uma linda vista.

Great ‘Glamping experience!

First let me mention Awes that Christina was awesome! Yeah, she went above and beyond to accommodate all of our needs. She made reservations at restaurants, she ordered pizza for us and anything else we needed. But just to clarify, there is not a bar or a spa or yoga on the property. There is not a restaurant or a boutique. The breakfast is excellent and it is made to order. The lady did a fabulous job. If you’re looking for a glamping experience, this is what this place is. The family of monkeys that came through yesterday was a great experience as well.

Great folks, wonderful breakfast, super clean.

The folks at Green Sanctuary are lovely and efficient. The young woman who greeted us at 6pm was helpful and kind. Breakfast was amazing!!! I had the Tico Special and it was huge and delicious. The only downside is the construction happening a few feet away on the other side of the wall which divides the property. Constant banging metal and drilling from 7am onwards. The Green Sanctuary folks have created a sweet and reasonably priced oasis, converting shipping containers into rooms, and sadly, with the overdevelopment currently happening in this area, their oasis sounds like a construction zone during the day. I feel very sorry that this is happening as their patch is beautifully maintained and managed.

Very nice container room in well kept grounds. The area surrounding the property was nice with lots of wildlife to observe from the pool area. Although there were a few dining options in easy walking distance from the hotel, the area did not feel entirely safe as evening approached. Staff helpful in arranging ride from airport and to follow up destination and really enjoyed our stay. Recommended.

The roads are crazy bad but it felt like an adventure. The construction noise was the pits but we hardly paid attention to it because everything else was so lovely! Thank you!

Great place for the cost.

Great place particularly for the price. Room size is adequate and we’ll appointed. Grounds are beautiful and the people are, well this is Costa Rica, wonderful. Easy parking out front and an easy walk to the beach. A bit of a walk to town but being out on top of the hill has its advantages in quiet too!

Me and my wife stayed here for 5 days and it was perfect. Close to the beach and we went to a few beaches but the one near the place was the best one. Staff was super friendly. We had looked at a lot of places before choosing this one and drove by them during our visit and were soooooo glad we chose Green Sanctuary after seeing the other places in this price range. We ate at amazing restaurants that were all close. La Luna on the beach and Huacas in the hills. Both were formal and need reservations but reasonably priced. Beach dog is a casual dining place with the beach vibe but also great food and atmosphere. Stay at Green Sanctuary you will not be disappointed!!!!

Do not stay here!!!!

Do not stay at this place!!!! Sheets were dirty. AC did not work the first night. They tried to scam me and another desk after our stay with claims of broken coffee pots. Neither of us made coffee and they sent us both the same picture. It is far from everything and not a comfortable stay. Go somewhere else! They have you pay when you get there. I suspect that is so people won’t just leave.
