「Period property with unusual layout. Should have read the breakfast instructions more carefully as this was to indicate quantity of items not just preference. Staff very helpful.」

「Good transport links. Room very clean. Staff exceptionally helpful. Does not do breakfast but sister inn close buy and plenty cafes nearby eg Starbucks . Only there for short while but hope to return and will stay again. 」

「We had a great one night stay at Berwick Lodge on a a Monday to celebrate a birthday. The sun shone and the Housemartins flew happily around whilst we sat on the terrace having a cocktail. The à la carte menu was fantastic - well worth the cost and breakfast was very tasty. Will definitely stay again in one of the other fantastic looking rooms.」

「Okay for a place to stay but its a help yourself breakfast. No staff around. No staff to check you in. I had to phone to get someone to come out. And no one says 'Hello Old Star B&B'. Just 'Hello, Karen speaking.' How are you supposed to know you've reached the right number? No staff on check out. I just left the keys on the bed. Poor customer service.」

「I stayed there one night for business - i was in room 5, on the first floor, by the access door. The rooms are very noisy: poor soundproofing meant that noise came from the pub downstairs, the rooms on both side (I could hear my neighbours cough as clearly as if they were in my room) and outside (one window was soundproofed but not the french door leading on to the balcony - what is the point?) The room cleaning was ok but the bathroom did smell of mould, and the shower is full of it - please...

「1. There were many dead bees to start off with 2. Bedside lamps didn’t even work so we had to sleep with the main light on. 3. The pressure of the sink in the toilet was disastrous as it was too high and would go everywhere and the water kept turning on and off . 4. The main light kept flickering. 5. There was also no staff in the property and when we faced some problems in the night and we weren’t comfortable to phone them in the night .」

「Room was spacious and clean. Hot water in the shower is not great, it keeps alternating between hot and cold, so it doesn't provide a continuous flow of hot water. Breakfast was good, overall, good value for money.」
