See the ruins of the 12th-century St. Mary’s Chapel and the mid-19th century Banqueting Hall, built by the visionary industrialist William George Armstrong. Town Moor is a 1,000-acre (405-hectare) open space home to grazing cattle and the host of a fairground in June. In the moor’s southeast corner is Exhibition Park, which has a brewery, playground and walking trails.
For a fun day out, attend horse racing events at Newcastle Racecourse. Golfers have a choice of several clubs located within a short drive of Gosforth, including the City of Newcastle Golf Club, Gosforth Golf Club and Northumberland Golf Club. Visitors are welcome and equipment rentals are available.
Gosforth is served by the Regent Centre and South Gosforth subway stations, among others. Public buses also travel regularly to and from Newcastle-upon-Tyne city center.
