We spent only one night at Ruby. Wanted to extend our stay but weren’t able to because of plans the next day. I will be returning to Madison next week and will def stay again. Staff is exceptional. Ambience of the hotel is so warming, inviting and relaxing. We felt as though we stepped back in time for the evening. Very clean, extremely clean. We had to leave at 0600 so didnt get to enjoy the breakfast. The long narrow hallways added to the historic charm. While roaming around exploring all little coves and sitting areas, I felt like we would encounter a tall thin man with a top hat and 3 piece suit relaxing with a cup of tea. Cant say enough abt the beauty of building.

The location of this hotel is unbeatable. You are within an easy walking distance to the capital, the square, etc., but you don’t need to worry about parking. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious.

Stayed in Room 23 (Each room has different amenities/ views/ sq ft)- and it was great. Copper soaking tub, spacious, both slept great on firm king, 3rd floor turret windows was partial lake view & RR crossing busy street intersection. The overnight freight train horn did wake me, but not really unexpected. Windows to fire escape didn't seem to open. Wet bar was handy, with mini fridge, microwave & instant coffee maker. Meal accommodation vouchers (breakfast) were confusing: Rosaline Cafe (M-F until 1030am, not open for lunch/dinner); Come Back In Restaurant/ Club (Sat- Sn breakfast voucher). Ruby Marie is one section of a historic block with numerous eatery options, including an additional restaurant (Essen haus) and a pub (Up North- also provided hotel guest drink vouchers). The Come Back In breakfast was Super. If you're looking for a ghostly experience, both of us experienced a mildly spooky time in room 23. Note- neighborhood has homeless that will approach, beg. Best not to interact. They will follow you into elevator lobby from rear parking lot; these doors are card reader access only during overnight hours. Suggest calling desk for escort if concerned or solo traveler. I would stay again.

Cute Queens Victorian hotel. Not your average chain. With everything being uniform. You got free parking, the music venue isn't within walking distance and there are a couple of restaurants/ bars attached and the hotel provides you with a free drink for happy hour and a free breakfast in the morning at the restaurant. We were very impressed and will definitely be back

Its a quiet cozy place great staff and great breakfast. Would reccomend for sure. Jas an elevator to get to rooms easily. Its very dated in decor but it was built in 1873 or at least thats when it was first licensed as a hotel. Very beautiful historic building

Loved the historic atmosphere. Friendly staff. The only thing was that the water from the shower would only be hot even if it was set all the way to cold. I didn't mind it though. The drink tickets were a nice surprise too.

The bathtub is amazing in room 24! The whole room is amazingly! Bed was super comfy, fireplace was cozy and was nice soaking in the tub and watching the fireplace. Bathroom was nice and clean, shower was good and hot. Kitchenette is nice and fridge kept our drinks cold. You get 2 free drinks at the bar downstairs which is a nice up north type of bar. Free breakfast in the morning was good, eggs, bacon and potatoes along with a few varieties of bread for toast. They had juice and water and a few other goodies. Staff was great, on our way out ran into a staff member and he took our room keys for us so we didn't have to stop in the lobby. We loved this hotel!! It was a little noisy and the train horn was loud but not bad. There were earplugs in the room but not really necessary. I personally didn't think it was any louder than any other hotel in the city. Will definitely be back!! Thank you hotel ruby marie for an amazing experience!!

What a gem of a place. Wonderful staff who feel like friends. History and charm blended with some modern upgrades. Comfortable bed. Hot hot water in the shower. And coupons for breakfast at the hotel’s Roseline’s Cafe and at the ComeBackIn nearby- which has excellent food. I’ve already booked for my next visits in Madison.
