Wonderful experience staying in this remote and exclusive hotel. The staff was incredibly nice and pleasant and the accomodation was simply outstanding.
Amazing stay in the most beautiful, secluded, peaceful location.
The transfer process from the airport was seamless and extra fun with the opportunity to take the speedboat from the harbour.
The resort is immaculate and the ocean bungalows are beautiful, the best hotel room we have ever stayed in.
The rest of the resort is just as wonderful, the pool area is tranquil and wrapped around by mountains creating a sense of calm.
The food and drinks were also fantastic, a highlight being lychee martinis on the jetty as the sun went down!
Thanks so much Menjaga Bay team x
Resort was excellent very quiet clean
staff friendly smiling all the time but helpful nothing was too much trouble
Restaurant was excellent
Sunsets was to die for
Great place to do nothing or do some excellent tours
Went to see 7 Komodo dragons
The cave trip was great
The staff help with fishing
Wouldn't say a bad word about the resort
The staff was kind and friendly and the overwater bungalow we stayed in was dreamy. You get a perfect view of sunsets over the bay every night. Bathroom including shower was modern and convenient. Restaurant is really high quality and beautiful. Amazing time!
This place is absolutely amazing, a definite touch of paradise . The hotel and dining areas are amazing with excellent staff , thankyou Budi . It's a fantastic getaway in a fantastic location . Only reason I don't give it 5 stars was it was very difficult to get a straight answer out of one of the staff when it came to airport transfers and an organised private boat trip. Other than that brilliant and would definitely return😊
Some of the things we wished we had known before booking are: 1.The property is VERY remote. You have to take a 15 minute ferry ride from the dock in Labuan Bajo to the hotel and it only runs three times a day - at 8 am, 10 am and 5 pm, returning about a half hour later so if you want to get off the property, you have to be prepared to be gone all day and the little town of Labuan Bajo is OK but not where I would have chosen to spend 8 hours. That also means that you pretty much have to eat breakfast and dinner at the hotel every day. The food is OK but somewhat pricey for Indonesia and limited selections. Secondly, the bungalows are very attractive but not totally sealed so expect lots of bugs in the room. The bedding is all white to you can easily see the bugs crawling on it. And the toilet, vanity and shower are outdoors. The shower does not have any door so if a boat goes past or your companion walks past, you will be visible while in the shower. They encourage you to leave the lights off as they attract bugs and monkeys so that means in the middle of the night, you have to turn on the ilght, go outside and do your business. Also, when it rains (which is pretty often), anything you leave on the vanity will get wet. There is a shelf underneath it but you have to remember to clear everything every time you use it. Third, they are very strict about no change or cancellations within two weeks of arrival so make sure you absolutely are committed. But, it's beautiful there
We booked an over-the-water villa two months in advance, requesting a front-row unit with a clear view for a romantic dinner. Instead, we were assigned a second-row villa with an obstructed view, despite the resort informing us of the assignment but not the view issue. Other villas offered better orientations and views, critical for special occasions. Disappointed, we raised the issue, but better villas were unavailable. We were offered a mountain suite for one night, misrepresented as equivalent to our villa, but it was a lower-category room with a tree-blocked view. The resort's claim that the suite matched our villa's value due to a private pool was misleading, leaving us feeling deceived.
Communication with reception was challenging due to language barriers, requiring repeated clarifications. Our pre-booked dinner was overlooked until we prompted staff via WhatsApp.
No escort was provided to the mountain suite, and we weren't warned about monkeys stealing items.
The welcome email arrived post-check-in, and post-stay feedback was requested prematurely. Guest services, communication, and staff training need significant improvement. We had to repeatedly follow up on our requests due to apparent lack of staff management and supervision, leading to inconsistent and inefficient service delivery.
However, the restaurant and bar staff were exceptional, delivering our private dinner with genuine care.
The resort in itself is a real slice of paradise. The Villas on the water are fantastic. They offer great views and the sunsets are amazing. The food and drinks are also great (although on the expensive side).
1) I personally did not realize when I booked that it was 45 minutes from Labuan bajo, 30 mins of which you have to do in a 4x4 because of the bumpy rocky road. To get out of the resort cost 700k so you’re kind of stuck there… it’s something to keep on mind if you want to do any tours. Also, the LB “tours“ don’t come to this hotel to pick you up. It’s not “included” in the Labuan bajo area.
2)The area of improvement is definitely with the front desk communication and marketing. They don’t have any excursion to propose except a few verbally (!), it’s complicated and the conditions and description keeps on changing every day. It’s really frustrating. One day I was told they could offer snorkelling the other day they couldn’t, then they suddenly remembered but they didn’t have any pictures of the boat, or any description of the excursion in itself! I have never seen that at any hotel in the world in 30 years. I finally did the tour (for 900k) which is more than twice the price in Gilli-t and Lombok but when I boarded, I saw that there was no guide (!) and that the boat was very small (2 passengers) and old and the passenger seat was broken. It does not really “match” the quality of the resort and certainly not the price. The tour is not safe. At the second spot,

The room, staff and food was lovely. But, the Safety, risk and emergency procedures make this a dangerous place to stay. I fell off the jetty due to poor lighting, breaking a number of bones. My husband jumped in and saved me, other guests helped us, while staff were lovely they had no idea, could not swim and no first aid box or stretcher/board. Apparently I am not the first, it has happened before but the owner does not want safe lighting or safety rails installed as it will spoil the ambience. This is a death waiting to happen. If guests had not stepped in to advise and help staff, I hate to think of the outcome. DO NOT STAY here, if you think it won't happen to you, it could, I have at least 6 months rehab ahead and the hotel will not take any responsibility or even care, it's for us to chase up, and we will. It's a pity such a beautiful location with such beautiful staff will be destroyed by not looking at risk to ensure guecustomers or caring.

Absolutely amazing, this resort really is something special.
We stayed in a room over the water for 11 nights. Luckily, we were allocated the room at the very end of the jetty. Rooms are allocated on an availability basis, we would have been happy with any of them.
It’s the staff who make it, nothing is a problem & everyone knows their job. This is a very well led & run resort. Such a relaxed atmosphere. Staff all deserve a mention, there are many please take this as a collective thanks you to everyone who helped make our stay so special.
Great restaurant, fresh fish cooked with love every night. Breakfasts are 3 course so really sets you up for the day.
You can swim from the room at high tide. The reef is 200m out on the edge of the bay. Swimmable & they have created a pontoon or take out a kayak. Visible was great, crystal clear most days.
Sunset from the end of the jetty are a great way to start the evening & handily there is a bar at the end of the jetty.
We moved to a room on the hillside for the final three nights. This was great as a different experience. The private plunge pool is a very special touch. Get used to living with wildlife; monkeys, millipedes & so many birds.
Great communal pool and it’s such a small resort than nothing ever feels crowded. At times were the only people using the pool or the only people on the reef.
We took a one day snorkelling trip into Komodo Park booked through the resort. We saw turtles, a manta ray & much more

This property is beautiful and pristine. Exceptionally clean. Staff was so helpful, we had an amazing time here. Would definitely return
