One of the best Hotels I’ve ever been to. Beautifully located, the interior is designed amazingly and the staff makes the whole place even better. If you’re gonna visit Portugal it’s a must visit!

The property is located pretty much on top of cliffs right on the coast. It’s quite remote in terms of nowhere is walkable - you need a car or Uber to get to the nearest town and also the nearby beaches (which are stunning cove type beaches). But if you want to chill out for a couple of days after a long trip (as we did - from New Zealand) you really don’t want to leave the property anyway. The views are stunning, the staff and service are outstanding the food is amazing and the vibe is chilled out luxury. We loved it and will certainly be back - and stay longer and next time have a car to explore further up the coast. They do offer surf lessons and there is yoga and a spa.

As others have noted, this is an undeniably beautiful place. We stayed in two suites--an ocean view suite on night one, and the master suite on night two. The rooms were both very comfortable and well-appointed. The nearby beach, easily accessible by car, is beautiful, uncrowded, and served by a great little beachfront cafe (full bar, snacks, sandwiches, etc.). All of that is great and as advertised. (There was a minor glitch with the air-conditioning, but that was apparently a hotel-wide issue that was resolved pretty quickly.) The bigger issue is the constant club music blaring through the outdoor speakers from breakfast until 10/11pm. It's very audible in the oceanside suites, including the master suite. We asked several times if the speakers could be turned off outside, as there was often no one sitting outside to begin with. But the staff told us they could not turn off the speakers. They repeatedly committed to turn the music down, but if they in fact turned the music down, it wasn't noticeable. I'm sure there are plenty of guests looking for a beautiful, clubby patio from morning until bedtime. (Although, as noted, I didn't see very many of those people outside during our stay.) But if you're looking for a serene hotel on a cliff where you can hear the ocean, this is not the place for you -- you are much more likely to hear a dance remix.

Lovely hotel, but…

Lovely hotel but restaurant was pretty bad and ridiculously overpriced (the hotel is also quite far from the city centre, so you cannot walk to another place/ always need a taxi). Also some of the staff were quite rude - not what I’d expect from a 5-star hotel. Nice for a night or two but wouldn’t spend longer here.

The only hotel with Dyson Hair Dryer??

When the hotel provides their guest with dyson hair dryers, it is a true 5 star hotel. Staffs are amazing, and make you feel at home.

Aethos is a contender to be the nicest hotel we have ever stayed in. We felt at peace as soon as we entered the property. The staff was incredibly kind and conscientious which is parallel with the ethos of the brand. The view is extraordinary and as is every detail in between. Would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

This hotel was top notch. The staff was incredibly helpful with any requests we had. Once I returned home in the US, I figured out I accidentally left 2 expensive handbags in the room. They shipped them back to me, no problem. Very professional and honest!

Overpriced

We felt that the hotel is overpriced. We had a room for over 300 Euros which was at basement level overlooking a wall and small garden. The room was small. The hotel Is very clean and has a good vibe but not worth the very high prices.

Unfortunately the staff at Aethos Ericeira aren’t very welcoming or friendly. We would hardly be acknowledged or say hi too. There was many times we would go to the restaurant and no one would help us to be seated or came to our table and ask us what we want to order. (We felt so unwanted) It’s sad to say a new hotel like doesn’t really care about their customers. I would most likely not return back to this hotel after my experience.
