The room was small you had to close the door to get past the bed and there was no remote for the TV. but it was clean and the staff was very pleasant and professional.
I would stay again.
Staff were very welcoming and friendly, I was late arriving due to traffic and this was not a problem, slept like a baby in a very comfortable bed, breakfast was freshly cooked and very enjoyable plus a good choice ref breakfast, a very pleasant stay.
Property was well located food was simple but plentiful and tasty. Good choice of alcoholic beverages and a lovely beer garden. Landlady was very pleasant and put us at ease and made us very welcome.
Really great stay here for a night. It was situated in a lovely quiet place. Couple of nice pubs close by which had good food.
Hosts were friendly and polite, especially the sweet little doggo! Rooms were tidy and had really good amenities, along with a fire stick so we were able to stream Netflix.
Full English breakfast in the morning was really good. Overall would stay here again!
Booked shortly notice, paid and received a call to say closed. No notification of refund yet.
The girl who called us was helpful in booking us in elsewhere so all not lost. 1 star provided as unable to give actual review. Where we did say said it's been shut a while and unlikely to open so be careful when booking

The radiator in the room didn't work. I went to see the staff, and the boiler wasn't switched on, which is very strange for January !!. The boiler was on but the radiator didn't work on either day of my visit. 2 heaters were provided, but the person in charge wasn't aware of the issue with the boiler/radiator, which was poor in my view.
This place did not live up to previous reviews. The building was dilapidated. The wallpaper was ripped. The room was small with very old furnishings snd furniture. You had to walk through a tiny kitchen to access the rooms. It was very noisy. If somebody used a tap the whole building could hear it. We finally got to sleep at 4.00am. We didn’t want to eat our evening meal there and so went to the pub next door. Breakfast was limited. Cereal was corn flakes or muesli not much choice. Definitely not value for money.
The staff was polite and helpful. The accommodations at Dante were exceptionally good for such a small hotel in a small town. Yes, the Dante is very old with beamed ceilings but that is the charm of a small country hotel. The room rates are especially good.
The only shower of my eight English hotels that had a bathmat was the one at Dante Arms in Middleham. Congratulations, Dante. Also, Dante had a shower which could easily regulate the temperature unlike most of my previous hotels.
The room rate was good: I was in room five with a rack rate of only £75 (ca $100).
My room also had a hot water bottle covered with cloth, a nice comfort for wintertime nights. Lastly, Dante Arms offered Half of a full breakfast, which is good because I usually could not complete a whole full English breakfast.
Dante's bar was good for beer and hamburgers.
One unexpected benefit of the Dante was its proximity to the stalls for race horses which clopped each morning in front of the hotel.
We stayed here for a weekend to visit a local music festival. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and had clearly put Covid precautions in place. The full English breakfast was excellent, and the staff made sure that we were well fed before dashing off for the day.
The room was quite small, but that’s to be expected given the history of the building, which also explained all of the stairs. The bar downstairs has a wonderful ambience.
Definitely a nice place to stay if you’ve got no mobility issues.
Dante arms was very clean and tidy, plenty of choice at breakfast, Emma and her team were very welcoming and look after us very well, recommended to anyone who wish to stay at middleham 👍👍👍👏👏

Very basic but clean room. Hottest night of the year and only window in room could have easily been accessed from outside with out a ladder. No evening meal facility.
Lovely atmospheric Inn stay. Rooms not overly large by todays standard, but big for the1800s!! Everything and more was provided from toiletries to exotic teas! Fresh milk and plenty of biscuits. Very clean, exceptionally friendly and the breakfast to die for! Loved every minute, lovely room, plenty of parking and a garden view room
It was a very old Inn hosted by exceedingly nice people. It was fine for a one night, last minute booking and in a historic town in the Yorkshire Dales. The room had no view (nature of building and late booking perhaps) but was comfortable and clean. We had a lovely breakfast and managed to negotiate the many steep stairs and narrow corridors. The service was excellent and considering stays away had only been allowed for two weeks the hotel was well prepared to receive visitors. For such an ancient building it was very clean. If you are fit and looking for character, this is for you; if you want a standard, plastic identical, international hotel chain, with all mods and cons, this is not for you. But if you want to experience, God's own country, Middleham area is a great place.
Wonderful service and friendly people. Access to room is via several relatively steep stairs so be forewarned if you are less than fully fit or need additional help.
We understand that the owners recently took over the Dante Arms and also run the sister pub, the Richard III which is two doors away. Our room, Desert Orchid was comfortable and had obviously had a recent refurbishment. Breakfast was good but served at the Richard pub where we also had our evening meal. The food was good and plentiful. In particular, the staff were friendly and welcoming.
