「FikirandRay is a relatively new hotel and offers comfort and quiet. It is a short walk from a restaurant with great views down the valley. The staff were very nice and helpful. Carved out of the surrounding bedrock in the 12th & 13th centuries, the churches were intended to be a "New Jerusalem", an African Jerusalem. The greatest of these churches is the iconic Bete Giyorgis. Today the 11 churches are part open air museum and part active pilgrimage destination for Ethiopians.
