"The room was clean, but overall the hotel felt dated and in need of refurbishment. There was noticeable wear and damage to the skirting boards and furnishings, and the same could be said for the third-floor corridors and the lift. While the bathroom was in slightly better condition, it still felt tired and could do with updating. There was also no fridge in the room. The walls were extremely thin, meaning noise from neighbouring rooms carried very easily. I’m not usually a light sleeper, but I can imagine this would be a significant issue for many guests. The bar area looked pleasant enough, although I didn’t use it myself. I also chose not to have breakfast, as the additional £18 per day for my two-night stay felt overpriced. On the positive side, the location is very good - it’s only a short walk into the town centre, with two lovely parks nearby. There’s also a scenic walk to Threlkeld along the converted railway line, which starts near the leisure centre just a couple of minutes away. The route is around 6.4 miles there and back. Overall, I feel I would have been better off spending a little extra to stay somewhere of a higher standard. Even a Premier Inn would likely have been an improvement. The main advantage of the Keswick Country House Hotel was the included on-site parking."

Lakeside Hotel & Spa

"Our hotel room was a bit dated and was far too hot with no way of cooling it down. There was also no fridge. The food was fine, although there were a lot of prepacked foods used (such as pancakes at breakfast, bean burger at dinner). We also ordered packed lunches for our hike and they were quite basic for the £17.50 they cost and they were also quite squashed when they were given to us (the banana was a bit mouldy too as well as being very bruised). The pool was amazing and we all loved it and although we didn't use the spa it looked lovely too. The changing rooms were far too hot though which made getting dressed very uncomfortable. The staff were all lovely, especially at reception, really chatty and friendly. With a few little improvements I feel this could be a fantastic hotel."

"BEAUTIFUL location, ideal for walks and driving around the Lake District. Very well equipped spa/resort hotel with plenty of FREE parking. Nice restaurant, VERY large room with nice view. Full bath to relax in after a day's hiking."

The Belsfield Hotel

"We loved everything about The Belsfield Hotel. We stayed there a few years ago and it was beautiful, but since it has new owners, the staff are happier, the hotel is continually being updated restoring it to it's former glory. Our room was perfect, the breakfast was incredible and the staff couldn't have been nicer with us. We will be returning again later in the year, before we get married there. It's a gorgeous, stunning hotel."

Damson Dene Hotel

"Firstly checked in to find previous guests clothes in wardrobe, then the spa bath didn't work even though we were supposed to have been upgraded , then there was about 6 months dust on top of four poster bed ,the bed was broken and only fixed by a 3mm screw ( dangerous) . Was moved to a twin room for 1 night then put in superior room only to find someone's tablet under the bed runner which should of been clean linen clearly not . Put in a complaint to manager and hasn't even had the decency to respond . If u have any sense please stay somewhere else as that tablet could of killed a child or dog but the owner and manager clearly isn't bothered about safety protocols"
