Grand Hotel Menaggio

"We had a lovely stay at this beautiful hotel. The rooms were clean, spacious and very comfortable, and the location was extremely convenient, right next to the ferry port. The hotel restaurant was lovely, with great food and a beautiful atmosphere. The only unusual thing was the pool service — you couldn’t order snacks while sitting in the pool lounge area and had to be seated at a table instead. Overall, a beautiful hotel in a very convenient location, and we really enjoyed our stay."

"The hotel is easy to get to from the train station - a 6 - 8 minute walk straight up the main street. The hotel is very close to the Funicular about a 2 minute walk. For those interested in shopping you're not more than 2 to 3 minutes from it. Although the bedroom decor is a bit dated it is clean,bright and very comfortable. The breakfast has a good selection for every taste. The City Alta has much to see and do and you will easily need a full day to explore it."

"We spent 3 nights in a really large nice apartment suite with a balcony. We were next to the pool but it was quiet with a nice view of the lake and Monte Bre. The hotel overall is a bit tired and in need of fresh paint, but the grounds were very clean. We loved the pool for a cool break from the heat and crowds of Lugano. Its a trek to find restaurants, even with the bus stop. We found good dinners 12-15 minutes uphill or downhill and skipped dinner the last night. The staff were very friendly and attentive."

"Breakfast was very good; they have a variety of fruits and other items, and I really loved the decor. The food and the pool bar was very good, and dinner at the Liberty restaurant was awesome."

"I can’t say enough about the concierge team! They were able to arrange transfers, boat excursion, taxi…anything we needed with just an email. It was all arranged prior to arrival and was perfect. The afternoon terrace lunches were delicious, especially the gin and tonic experience. And the housekeeping staff exceptional. We had a beautiful room, and I would 100% stay here again if we return to Lake Como"

"We loved staying at this property — everything is always clean and well maintained. Our only complaint is the afternoon restaurant service. When we tried to get a few drinks, the service was extremely slow, and we ended up leaving the property to get drinks somewhere else instead."

"Overall, our stay at the hotel was okay. The buffet breakfast was excellent, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, we had some minor issues. We expected more from a four-star hotel, perhaps because we’re not familiar with Italian hotel practices. For example, they only provided body wash, so we had to buy our own shampoo. The air conditioning wasn’t cold enough, making it difficult to sleep if you prefer a chilly room. Still water is only available on the ground floor. While they made our beds every day, they didn’t change the bed linens, which wasn’t a problem for us since we usually take a bath before bed. However, if you prefer daily bed linens, this might be an issue."
