Clean room with one double and 2 single beds. Had safe in room and small fridge. Enjoyed shared kitchen with free morning coffee available. Refreshing pool with loungers available to relax. Staff very nice. Good value for price.
The shower at villa Fortuna was the best one we encountered at four different locations in Costa Rica. Very hot and great water pressure. We used the shared kitchen for breakfast which worked well. Kids enjoyed the pool. Staff were helpful organizing a private guide at the hanging bridges and suggesting local attraction sat check in. Soda Visquez is the best for great food and prices.
This is a decent small hotel. The location is very good. About 1km from the center of La Fortuna and about 100m from a large grocery store. No free breakfast, but the shared covered outdoor kitchen was very convenient and had all you need to make your meals on site if you want to save money.. Service was very good.
Location was ok since we had a rental car. It was on the outskirts of the main La Fortuna downtown so I don't recommend it to people without a car. I am not sure if it was just our room, but the room was infested with ants, we can hear the people "talking" in the next room loud and clear because the wall is so thin, and the bed was so uncomfortable that back hurt so much after one night. We couldn't bear to sleep the second night since the ants were crawling into our beds and wanted to leave at the crack of dawn but there was no management to help with check out nor were we given any instruction as to what to do in the event we have to leave early in the morning.
Hotel was less than a 5 min walk to a supermarket, and less than a 10min drive to downtown. Facilities are simple and to the point, there's a shared kitchen and mini-fridge in every room.
We stayed 2 nights at Villa Fortuna. Anthony in the reception was very welcoming and gave us great tips. He even gave us keys to the shared kitchen when we wanted to make an early breakfast before hiking to Cerro Chato.
The room was nice - had a refridgirator too. The ceiling is high, which was nice. The outdoor pool was a great addition as well.
Wifi worked so-so. The shared kitchen could use some cleaning and maintenance (refridgirator door doesn't close). The towels smelld to mold which wasn't that nice.
Overall, the hotel was nice - we could park right infront of the door, service was nice and the pool a great addition!
Having never been to Costa Rica we were pleasantly surprised by the terrain, the many different weather experiences and of course the friendly and helpful people at all the places we stayed. We started our vacation in La Fortuna, then after (5) days moved up to the Rincon de la Vieja region in the rainforest and finished off in Tamarindo along the Pacific coast. There wasn't enough time to explore further but we've had such a positive experience we will be making Costa Rica part of our winter escape plans in the future.
Pros: Convenient location, pleasant staff, nice grounds, decent beds.
Cons: Dimly lit worn out rooms. It is very, very loud. The walls are very thin and you can hear everything your neighbors are doing. Also, it is on the highway out of town so all the cars are accelerating down the highway and at night the local kids race their cars with big exhaust pipes and motorcycles back and forth here. I can't over stress how loud it gets after dark.
I had reserved 5 nights and left after the first night since it was obvious we would get no sleep here. Hotel refused to give me any sort of a refund for the remaining 4 nights. Called Expedia and they called hotel and still did not even get any partial refund.
We moved to Hotel Lomas Del Volcan for our remaining 4 nights and it was spectacular. More money, but 100x better.

Just what you need
If you are looking for 5 star luxury, this is not the place for you. But if you plan to see the sights and just want a comfy place to sleep at a reasonable price, this is your hotel! We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Hotel Villa la fortuna. The rooms are definitely very simple but clean and comfortable. AC worked great, hot water shower had great water pressure and the morning coffee in the common gazebo was delicious! Friendly helpful staff and even reasonably priced laundry service made this place just right. I definitely recommend.

Good bargain
This is a good basic hotel.
A few minutes walk to town.
The hotel was quiet and peaceful. Two couples travelling together with two rooms side by side. Large rooms, great chairs and table on front porch. Pool was lovely and clean. Pool towels available at the office. This place is family run, and everyone works. The outdoor kitchen was used by us for all meals and we shopped at the grocery store about 100 yards away.
We found it a welcome oasis after the business of near Quepos. We took the Arenal volcano exploration walk, highly recommend it, and we were picked up and dropped off at our hotel.
Beds were very comfy and air conditioner worked very well
We also had a fridge in our rooms where we kept our own food.
They fed birds in the morning and we enjoyed watching the birds and eating our breakfast under the outdoor gazebo.
We all LOVED the coffee , it was Britt and was so delicious you didn't even have to add anything else.
We feel comfortable in places that make you feel almost like you are at home!
Perfect place 10 minuter walk from restaurangs in centrum. Simple but clean rooms with refridgerator and a/c. Nice outdoor kitchen where evertbody sat. Nice atmosfeher. Straff in reception helped with bokning of all tour. Free coffe served at 7:30 and supermarket just nextdoor. We had a great time there.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Because we went to hot springs for few days, I had a lot of clothes to wash and dry. The laundry service was inexpensive and properly done. The staff at reception was friendly and willing to help with anything.
The location was great just few min from most of hot springs and restaurants located in La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano Park area.
If you are looking for a hotel just to sleep in.
I highly recommend this hotel.
If you are going to stay a long while in the hotel, be aware that the air conditioning system is quite old so that you may feel hot from time to time.
Overall, my stay at this hotel was satisfactory.
Great location just out of town, good value for the basic amenities... this is not a resort which is why we stayed here. Great home base for day trips around the area, friendly staff.
It is a nice place well kept a little bit of a hike to town our room was small for four people but adequate the pool looked nice hot tubs have been filled in very quiet spot.
the room was very clean and served us well. It would have been nice if the common area allowed us to stay past 9:00 pm to play cards in the lights but they shut down early. It was convenient to many great adventures.
My friend and I stayed here for a few nights 2 weeks ago...and one thing that stood out was the amazing staff that runs the hotel, which absolutely made a huge impact on our trip. Antonio and Yvelda are the nicest people and really go out of the way for their guests. They help you navigate through all the different touring options, and are easily available and accessible. Even when we were no longer staying in La Fortuna, we actually called Antonia from a different city to ask for his help!!
The place is cozy and has a warm and "homey" environment in which guests will gather together in the evenings by the kitchen area (where pple can cook their own food). Theres not much to do in La Fortuna at night so this element of the hotel certainly added to our experience.
The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable and it had AC as well as TV. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for an affordable, clean, and friendly location to hang out after a long day of hiking and touring.
