The property is very close to the volcano El Arenal, has beautiful views and the staff is great. It is somewhat rustic, but very clean. There is food served for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The thermal baths are rustic, but very natural and there are three different temperatures. You are close to town, but not walkable. They have tours that will pick you up and the is an Avis car rental place with excellent service. It is best to fly from San José and rent the car in town. Will save you hours of driving unfamiliar roads.

The kokoro landscaped grounds are beautiful. Its a small quiet resort not crowded that needs better up keep. You can tell it has seen better days. The hot springs and pools are better at the other area resorts. Buy a day pass to los Lagos resort nearby. Breakfast was fine. Rooms are large but need maintenance. TV never had a clear reception and had a few Spanish channels. Location was great for area activities. Easy access driving in and out of the property.

The stay was amazing. The location was perfect, just out of town so it was close to everything but still quiet. The there was wild life everywhere.

Perfect Stay in La Fortuna

Aloha, We were greeted by Peggy at our check-in. We did arrive before check-in and Peggy was able to accommodate us. She was kind, helpful and accommodating. Our room, #17, had a perfect view of Mt. Arenal. The room had a comfortable bed and pillows with a mosquito net which we didn’t need during our stay. The room was equipped with WiFi, a small refrigerator, AC, ceiling fan and a tv. The facility included hot mineral pools, a swimming pool and a yoga studio. During our stay the AC stopped working. The staff, one being Peggy’s son, did everything possible but were unable to fix the system. Due to the inconvenience we were offered room #18 & Peggy treated us to an amazing dinner in the hotel restaurant. The restaurant is ran by Peggy’s son and it was one of our favorite meals in Costa Rica. We booked our room to include breakfast. It was a traditional Costa Rican meal of beans and rice, plantains, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, cereal, fresh fruit and coffee or tea. Although it’s remote from downtown La Fortuna you can easily get an UBER for around $6 USD. We signed up for several tours and each tour picked us up with ease. Mahalo! L and L Travels with Aloha

Must stay!

Stayed with my family including two teen boys. Our stay was great! The property was one big garden. We saw so much wildlife on site. The view of the volcano was unobstructed. The staff were great. The on site restaurant had good options with reasonable prices. Breakfast was the best we had at any of the 4 hotels we stayed at in Costa Rica. The hot springs on site were very nice. We could sit and relax after an all our daytime activities. We saw other hot spring resorts and they looked super busy with tour buses and long lines. Hotel Kokoro was a great find!

The properties are very nicely maintained even if they seem to look old. I like the way it is built with the flavor of Japanese culture. Staffs are very nice and welcoming. We really enjoy early morning breakfast with Costa Rican flavor.

Wonderful stay in the jungle

Wonderful stay! Very clean and we loved the set up of the hotel. It felt like we were walking in the jungle around the property. It was so nice and the rooms were clean. The staff was so helpful too!!

Thr cabins are old and in need of renovation. The AC units are barely functional. The AC units look beat up. The AC remotes do not work. Not enough outlets. The safe in the room has a bad lock. The main door has a broken lock which is hard to lock and unlock. One of the units had a heavy glass pane as the front door. It did not have a handle to help open and close. The bathroom did not have an exhaust. The water pressure was low in the shower. The toilet flush was only partially working. The walk to the hotsprings was slippery and not handicap accessible. The staff are very friendly. The complimentary coffee is excellent. The restaurant with complimentary breakfast had a good variety of traditional foods and good coffee. The pool was great for adults and kids.

We loved the gardens and jungle trail around the hotel. Birds paradise. In addition to a regular pool, hot springs pools were very convenient too. The shower is a bit dated but overall clean and served its purpose. The breakfast was filling and tasty: scrambled eggs, white bread, cheese, rice and beans, sauteed veggies, fruits, yogurt, cereal, coffee. The personnel was polite and patient with all our questions. The view of volcano adds to the overall great impression.

Stayed for 3 days

This place is very close to downtown La Fortuna, but stays secluded in lush of tropical nature. It has beautiful views to Arenal volcano, the surrounding area of the property is clean and safe. Or room had clean white towels, hot water in the shower, comfortable enough bed to sleep between all activities that we booked. Fan and AC worked great. There was a small fridge in the room with complimentary water bottle. Also in the bathroom we had all necessary toiletries. Check in was prompt and easy with Yat. He provided a map of the property, explained everything. Our breakfast was included. It was minimal, not many varieties, but it had eggs, cereals, bread, fruits, coffee, juice. The dining area is among tropical garden next to the pool that I haven’t seen anyone to use. We took a walk towards hot springs and didn’t see anyone using them as well, so if you go it will feel very private. The condition is not the best, but looked clean. Overall property met our requirements, it wasn’t any fancy, it needs some upgrades, but it was within our budget.

This was the best stay I had. There were birds an animals everywhere, and at night frogs came out. The food at the hotel was great and the staff were very nice too. They had 2 cats that were super friendly. The pool was great and the hot springs were very nice and warm. The hotel room was clean and spacious. We hope to visit again soon
