The location is great- steps from the train station. Not a lot nearby in terms of food and most things close early when the tourists leave for the day. Which means it’s pretty quiet at night. Rooms are good size, not cramped like most of Japan. Windows barely open and the AC was not working well when we were there.

Liked: Staff & service
Property is a little dated and carpet in common areas was stained. However, the staff was very helpful, the bed was amazing, public bath facilities were nice and the breakfast option was over the top.
This was my Fiancé and I's first trip to Japan and we decided to start our trip off first in Kyoto. We stayed here for 3 nights and had the best time, it's about a 5-10 min walk to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, we got up around 5:30am-6am and their were no crowds, we were able to catch the sunset as well, we took so many pictures, it was absolutely beautiful. This hotels location is also only a 15-30 min train ride to the Fushimi Inari Shrine as well, the hotel is right next to the subway. We slept well and the trains didn't bother me at all. I love that this hotel is apart of the Arashiyama neighborhood, its so quiet and lovely. I hope to come back again one day with my future children.
Thank you Hotel Binario Saga Arashiyama :)

I did book this hotel for two nights but decided to book another hotel for the replacement of the second night here. This is an older hotel. It is next to the Arashiyama Train station. Great location for being next to a quiet train station. The inside needs updating. Our room is non smoking but walking to the room it smelled strong of cigarette smoke. The onsen was very small, and it doesn’t have the best bth products so I suggest I pack your own. The beds were stiff and our air conditioning controls stated 22 Celsius but it was very hot. I had to turn it down to 18 celcius to make it come to 22c/73f
So ac did not work properly, the beds are not comfy and their lobby bathroom is the older style toilet in the ground. Where you have to squat to the ground. Their restaurant for breakfast was nice but the food was not what I expected. The staff in the restaurant were so nice and so were the front desk staff. Really friendly and sweet! Service was great! Just the room itself and the onsen was outdated. This hotel could be updated a little more to make it a good stay. I won’t be staying here again. But at least I tried to stay here to try and be away from the busy streets. If you like peace and quiet and an affordable room then this is for you. If you don’t mind cigarettes then this is a great pick! But for me I would stay here again.
The area was nice but the hotel was way to overpriced for the condition it was in. It was not the cleanest and it had a very small bathroom that had a smell to it. It was the most expensive hotel on our trip and our least favorite

Disliked: Staff & service
Only reason I stayed here was for my Kyoto tour that was meeting right outside the hotel’s metro station. The station is a minute away. Everything else was quite disappointing. First, there’s a curfew hour for the hotel—The doors lock at midnight. Never ever seen that anywhere in the world. Two, the hotel desk asks you to leave your key at front desk whenever you leave the room. Never ever seen that either; why leave the key ?! Three, the rooms with a private bathroom are so poorly made that anyone can trip and fall entering or exiting. In addition, the bathtubs are poorly put in place and water leaks behind the uncaulked bathtub in the back. Mold issues assuming. While it looks amazing from the outside, inside it’s no better than a motel 8.
