The best vacation stay we had so far! The villa is absolutely luxurious. The dining experience right by the bay is priceless - first class experience! The owner, Aleksander & his family is so hospitable - they treat you like family. Kotor is a vacation you don’t want to miss!
A beautiful family run property. Excellent location a few steps to the water in the beautiful bay area with great restaurants/bars and shops all walkable. The owner could not have been more helpful with our questions and arrangements with taxis. Would definately recommend.
Beautiful place, just like the photos, comfy bed and great view from our window and we could park right outside which was great. There are two restaurants a short walk away and the food is good, right on the water, but you really need transport to get into Kotor. Our host was a mine of information about the house and the history of Kotor. We spent a lovely three nights there as it was such good value.
This hotel was like a little apartment. I had my own kitchen, with dishes and cookware. a large bed and a nice bathroom.
The hotel was quiet. And being right on the bay offered excellent views. They have a little area on the bat with chairs and tables where you could sit and have a drink or morning coffee.
Downtown Kotor can get packed, but this area is not crowded. It had a couple small stores down the road with carried the basics.
Theres a local bus that runs down the road in front of the hotel which is a bonus. You just wave at it and it will stop for you. You can pay cash. Its only a te minute ride to downtown. And on the way back they'll stop whereever you ask.
This is a great hotel in a great location and I enjoyed my stay there.
The host is really kind, welcoming and speaks English really well, which is very helpful and a bit rare for people in Montenegro.
Unfortunately, the guests staying in our room before us broke the toilet, so we had to be relocated at another hotel further down the same road. It was owned by a couple, where the woman was really sweet and polite, but the man behaved weirdly and inappropiately. So the first night was fairly uncomfortable and disappointing. Initially, we wanted some kind of compensation for all the trouble, but we decided not to push for it.
The next day we could stay at Villa Mariner as originally planned, to which we were immensely relieved.
The room we stayed in was nice, of good size and with a great ocean and mountain view.
The hotel building itself is awesome, beautiful and has a great history. You get that authentic pirate vibe.
We received a nice breakfast both mornings, which we ended up getting for free as a kind gesture for the former trouble with the relocation, and that actually made a great difference for us.
A minor sidenote: The kitchen in the backyard could really use a proper spruce up and some thorough cleaning.
We can definitely recommend this hotel :-)
Wonderful no-frills accommodation in a lovely peaceful location right by the calm protected bay with superb host - helpful and generous! Excellent value for money. We hope to return.
The view and location are great. A bit away from the busy streets of Kotor the Villa is a more quite spot. There are supermarkets, a bakery and nice restaurants only a few m away. The owner is also a great host and was really helpful
Very nice Old house facing its own access to the water for swimming. We also got our own parking just in front of property. Few nice restaurants around for dining if needed. Great breakfast prepared by Alexander and his son. Thank you for your hospitality !
Very nice boutique style family owned hotel. When we arrived owner was already waiting for us. We received a 5 stars service from him from the beginning to the end (even got a free room upgrade and a bottle of wine). Very convenient location right on the water. Easy on site parking. Highly recommend!!!
Amazing place. Scenery. Quiet. Tasty breakfast. Walking into the water from the hotel. Felt sorry for the people who spent all their time in the old town where it is relatively crowded. This is a gem and the definition of a summer holiday.
I had a studio apartment which is at ground level and I loved everything about it....design, decoration, lighting, comfort, right at the beach front . There are few little tree's at the property beachfront which provides comfortable shade throughout the day. Aleksandar ( the owner ) is such a sincere and caring person, who tries to fulfill all guests little requests to make them feel special and comfortable. Highly recommend this unique place!
This place was great! It was so cute, and I absolutely fell in love with the views! The bed was comfortable, and the room had everything I needed except AC. It is family-owned, so there wasn't usually someone at the front desk, but I didn't need much, so it wasn't a problem. It is about 15 minutes out of Kotor, but there is a very easy bus, which helps a lot. The view makes literally any tiny inconvenience 100% worth it.
A handsome stone sea-captain’s house, clean and friendly. We stayed in the front of the property with beautiful views over the Kotor bay and in a large and comfortably equipped room. Aleksandar was our helpful host. There are several good and reasonably priced waterfront restaurants within easy walking distance and it is a stone’s throw to the bakery and mini market. Hourly buses into Kotor from where you can get to Budva and beyond. The one coast road however runs directly in front of all of the bayside properties and can be noisy at times, but the courtyard garden with orange and banana trees is quiet and good for a picnic and a bottle or two of local wine and beer . Great walks up the Vrmac massif above the house and the old Kotor mule track. Above all a beautiful and interesting country!
Villa Mariner is a wonderful place to stay.
Only a 20-minute local Blueline bus ride from Kotor (ask the bus driver to drop you off in front of the door), it is much quieter and is a much better bargain than apartments found inside and just outside the old city.
Staff at Villa Mariner (owner, Alexsandar and his two sons) was super helpful in making our stay comfortable and relaxing. Correspondance with the Alexsandar helped us organize our bus travels through the region.
As for the Villa Mariner building, imagine an old fortified mansion with stone walls a meter thick. Apartments are clean, big and well equipped to prepare meals. Air conditioning keeps you comfortable at night. Much restoration has been completed but the place retains its old world character. And what a view of the bay of Kotor just outside your front window!!!
After a day of visiting the old city or after a day’s excursion, return to Villa Mariner in the late afternoon and go for a refreshing swim in the sea. Use the beach chairs reserved for the guests. Everything is just across the street in front of the building.
As for food, good restaurants, a bakery and a small grocery store are close by.

The room standards are different
The room facing the garden appeared older and with a different style than anticipated (judging by site-images). It was dissapointing and not the romantic image we had hoped for.
Only 1 bedside table existed and the bed was very close to the entrance-door, which could not be fully opened.
Plus the neighbours and ouside were clearly heard.
Bedmadrass was not fixed in place and had to be repositioned every morning.
The shower was the smallest we've ever experienced and without a curtain. It splashed everywhere.
Kitchen counter seemed repaired with duct tape.
The room was not cleaned during our 3 day stay. However it was tidy and clean upon arrival. No real issue.
Noone seemed to be in the reception and we had a difficult time finding staff.
However, the owner of the hotel was a pleasure to speak with. Helpful, kind and spoke good english.
The room is suited for a single bed and obviously need an update to match the style of the other rooms.
Would not recommend this room for more than an occational overnight stay.
