What a tasteful yet homely pub stay!
There was poor comunication between expedia and kings Head regards the number of people in our party for the room!
But staff did all in their power to compensate and make us comfortable!!
Will certainly go back and will give an excellent score.
Loved the food and everything about it!!
Only downside is - food stops at 8pm.
But they do ptovide a cold platter after this time that's delicious!
The pub is situated in peaceful countryside and is in a great location.
The proprietors were so welcoming and kind, helping me to my room with my luggage. My room was comfortable, nicely decorated and the bathroom clean with nice toiletries.
The food in the pub was good, and the service was friendly and efficient.
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and would certainly stay there again if I’m in the area.
This hotel is an absolute hidden gem and the perfect base for exploring the surrounding areas. The views are nothing short of picturesque, and there are plenty of peaceful nature walks right on the doorstep.
The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with an incredible attention to detail that makes every corner worth exploring. Each room is uniquely decorated, cosy, and full of character—truly a home away from home.
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, ideal whether you’re enjoying a relaxed meal or just stopping in for a drink.
What really makes this place special, though, are the owners—so warm and welcoming, they instantly make you feel like part of the family.
Can’t wait to come back!
Wow what a find. Beautiful pub, excellent food and a very lovely room !
I have to call out the incredibly friendly owners and a sense of a really happy place.
Cosy, interesting old pub by a river, recently updated.
Very clean. Has lovely rooms and large comfortable beds.
Owners and staff delightful, and very welcoming. Food good.
Off the beaten track but popular with walkers. If not a walker, need a car to explore the area!
The Kings Head is so atmospheric - immediately upon walking in we felt at home, warm and cosy, very welcome after walking up to the 9 Standards Rigg in fog and rain.
We stayed in Room 5, which we think was either above the bar or games room area and although we were aware of the music etc, it didn’t detract from our comfort and enjoyment.
The room was lovely and clean, bed very comfortable.
Fresh fruit always available on the way to our room which is a lovely touch.
Breakfast choice was great, really filling and the evening meals were fab.
Staff very pleasant and kind.
All in all, a great couple nights away.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
We stayed at the Kings Head last weekend and had a lovely time. The pub itself is gorgeous, decorated beautifully, it is cosy and inviting and located in a lovely spot by the stream.Although the actual car park itself was small this was no problem as we parked literally a couple of minutes away on the lane, perfect as it allowed the opportunity to see a tiny red squirrel busy in a nearby tree. The bar was great and the rooms furnished beautifully with lots of lovely little touches to make your stay a tad more comfortable. From coffee, biscuits and tea,to shower caps, cotton buds and earplugs. The food was delicious and the hearty , ample full english next day was gorgeous. The resident dogs were delightful and every person working we encountered could not have been more friendly and accomodating.
A superb night away, both the food/drink and service was spot on.
They couldn't have made it more dog friendly. With nice little touches.
Breakfast was also a real treat.
Highly recommend and will certainly return.

Excellent stay hosts very good food was very tasty
I don’t want to advertise the place too much because i want the area to stay like the oasis it is! Phenomenally beautiful area, really nice people, quiet and peaceful, loved the King’s Head
This was a late booking and I landed at the hotel, I booked a room for 3 adults and everything was looking ok. I got to the hotel at 11pm and the ported said. The room is for 2 adults only, even with my booking being for 3 adults (me and my 2 sisters). They he went on to charge an additional £50 for me having an extra person in the room. After this he also informed me the room service staff leave at 3pm so there was no one available to move a spare bed so one of my sisters had to sleep on the floor. YES I had to pay £50 to sleep on the FLOOR! absolute disgrace. My son spoke to the manager and the following morning and accepted it was wrong but refused to give the refund of £50 in her words. "they still have bills to pay!" they wouldn't even honour the breakfast side of the B&B deal for my sister this also came at an additional cost even after they apologised for making her sleep on the floor. TOTAL DISGRACE
