"This was the most incredible stay I could have asked for! The breakfast was lovely, the home felt very cozy, and she had the fire lit every evening for a warm and welcoming sitting area. The only thing I would say is, as a Uni student with no car, plan with bus routes! They only come around every hour, and the BnB is a bit remote. A lovely view of the lake, the gardens, the chickens, and the neighbors sheep! I will absolutely come here again :) "
"Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay. All staff were extremely accommodating. Breakfast was lovely, quality ingredients and plenty of choice. We particularly enjoyed the touch of the espresso machine and cake stand during our stay. "
"Ravenstone is a stunning small hotel, with warm friendly and helpful staff.
The room, which was at the front, overlooked the lake and Whinlatter Forest. It was very comfortable, clean, and beautifully decorated, which is true for the whole hotel.
A particular favourite place in the hotel during our stay was by the wood burner in the sitting room. After a day out walking to come back and read there was just so relaxing.
We ate out one evening but the following night had dinner at Ravenstone, which was really tasty with a good range of choices.
It’s our second stay at Ravenstone, which says a lot as we don’t tend to stay in the same place more than once. As we drove away we said to each other that we’ll definitely be visiting again.
It’s so well located, very relaxing, well managed and staffed and provides the perfect setting for time away from everything. "
"An amazing little gem of a place. The staff were so courteous, friendly and kind. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and they kindly offered us a drink each on the house. Breakfast the following morning was amazing too. We shall certainly return."
"We were upgraded to a beautiful, clean and spacious room overlooking the front of the Hotel. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - our bags were even taken up to our room for us. Buffet cooked breakfast is delicious and plentiful and the 3 course evening dinner is a nightly treat!
The Hotel is ideally situated for walking in the National Park and close to shops, and local transport. All-in-all highly recommended!"
"The staff were friendly and efficient and the room was nice. The bathroom was a bit dirty and needed some maintenance. There was also quite a lot of dust in some areas of the room and the kettle and iron were about 30 years old and didn't work very well. They closed downstairs completely at 22:30 and sent everyone sat having a drink by the fire to their rooms so they could turn the lights off, which seemed a bit odd.
It also wasn't clear on the itinerary from hotels.com whether breakfast was included. I checked the hotel website a few days before arrival and the same room including breakfast was listed at the same price so I assumed it was. To make sure, I was going to switch to a direct reservation but despite this being a free cancellation, pay on arrival booking, they had set the terms to have no cancellation for a week before arrival, so I couldn't. On arrival they didn't say anything other than asking if I wanted to book in for breakfast, then charged it as an extra at the end.
Generally the stay was really nice but there were a few issues which would put me off staying again."
"The reception was lovely, staff and breakfast were great.
With the room, was a bit more cozy than the pictures gave out. Great views of the fells.
But the carpet was stained and very dark.
Overall was lovely. "
