We then had to wait two hours whilst the owner came to the property to get the room ready. Waiting outside in the side proved to be a disaster as their outdoor table and chair was covered in a black bitumen type substance that got all over the bottom of my trousers and completely ruined them. "We stayed here on the 19th May ready to talk the shuttle to France. The staff were friendly proffesi and answered any questions. The room was lovely very clean everything you would expect with real comfy beds. The hotel is in the perfect location to walk along the sea front or have a stroll through the gardens at the back. Would highly recommend this hotel and stay again."

"Our recent family stay at The Carlton was very disappointing. The room was stiflingly hot, making it nearly impossible to sleep comfortably. Cleanliness was a major concern the carpet was heavily stained, and the bathroom had clearly not been cleaned between guests—we even found a used toilet roll on the floor. To top it off, there was no hot water for our evening showers. We expected a much higher standard of hygiene and comfort for a family trip and left feeling very let down.""

"We stayed for 3 nights, we were out and about most of the time so didn’t eat or use the bar but the staff were excellent and very helpful when we asked for things at reception. The renovation didn’t impact us at all and it’s nice to see that they’re bringing the decoration up to date. Our room was clean, modern, spacious and well equipped and the lounge was a blessing. We really enjoyed our stay and won’t hesitate to book here the next time we are in town."

"Overall, it was OK. We went for a girls trip to go shopping and have a night away, swim and dinner. The hotel rooms were fine, nicely decorated and clean. There was plenty of parking but was chargeable 10.50 per night. Swimming pool was incredibly busy and we had to pre book a slot due to a lot of children being present. However the pool staff were very helpful and friendly. The main disappointment was dinner. Service was poor and the cesar salad was lack lustre. It would have been nice to have more sodt drink choices at the bar rather than having to go to the kiosk."

"We stayed here and were unfortunately very unhappy the hotel was so loud people were running round the corridors screaming and shouting throughout the night till the early hours we barely slept and had an early wake up at 5 to get the eurotunnel so we felt like we barely slept, it was like being at an 18-30s hotel Also there were not enough towels in the room I had to go down and ask for more and the room felt like it hadn’t been cleaned properly there was so much dirt and dust on the fan we used due to how hot the weather was"

"Stay d one night and had booked two room. Was not offered to have connected rooms. Even though had received several email trying to up sale th booking. The food on site I feel was very over priced so we had food delivered for the four of us that cost 50% less then eating on site. Rooms have no sound proofing at all was kept awake till the early hours by the neighbouring room."
