It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Old World Charm

This is my favourite hotel. The atmosphere is charming and old world. the rooms are delightful. The staff could not be more friendly and charming. It was my first time in Kandy and I was so glad I chose this hotel. I stayed 2 weeks and dined here almost every night because of the ambience. It was an oasis for me in Kandy. Frank Ormonde
