I liked the friendly and helpful staff, nice furnishings in the apartments and adequately stocked with all the necessities for such accommodation! The bed was comfortable with very nice bed linen! Like the proximity to Sandton City and Mandela Sq! All in all I thought the Raphael was very good value for money! I did not like the view from my room.. faced the wall (but at least it wasn’t concrete and plain, but would have preferred a city view!

This hotel could be a pearl in Sandton, however, the photos of the property hide investment in maintenance. One of only a few hotels we’ve stayed in which has so few sockets for charging a laptop or indeed a phone. We found blood on the tiles in one of the two bathrooms in the 2 bedroom suite. The pigeons enjoyed our jacuzzi on the enormous balcony. We certainly weren’t going to get into that tub. A disappointing stay which didn’t meet our expectations.

Bedbug City hotel

My stay would have been good if we were not eaten up by bedbugs. We did not sleep the entire night as I was itching uncontrollably by the bites. I caught one bedbug and took it to the reception desk. The receptionist was very nice and brought me a clean sheet and blanket to sleep in the chair as I could not sleep in the bed anymore. The next morning I was told by the morning receptionist that someone would contact me from the hotel. No one did not even by email. I reported it to my credit card company, and they refused to refund my payment of $283.45 for the nights stay. My biggest fear was bringing bedbugs back into NY with me. I think it was ridiculous that the hotel did not did not refund me as I did not want to write a negative review because I was waiting for them to do the honorable thing of refunding me.

Good location, but not living up to expectations

Good location next to best shopping and dining. Good breakfast served at nearby hotel. Spacious rooms. Mold in the rooms, poor and not very friendly service, many technical issues, for example they could not make keys for our rooms and wifi worked only half of the time. Tried to charge extra for breakfast that was included. All in all, not what to expect from a 5 star hotel

Zimmer ohne Aussicht mit kleinem Balkon. Unmöglich, dort zu sitzen wegen Lärm von Gebäude-Maschinen wie Klimaanlage. Nicht einmal ein Fenster oder Türe konnte man offen lassen wegen dem Lärm. Man fühlt sich wie in einem komfortablen Gefängnis. Wifi hat zuerst nicht funktioniert. Es dauerte zu lang, um das Problem zu lösen. Würde nicht empfehlen, dort zu buchen obwohl die Lage grossartig ist.

Probably the worst hotel room in Sandton

Literally terrible experience in a shabby and worn out and hugely overpriced room. I'm traveling on business and booked this property because I thought I might benefit from the lounge area and kitchen but the carpet was soaking wet from leakage from the patio, the sofa was beyond worn out, the wardrobe doors didn't slide / close properly and the bedroom still has a square CRT TV as if it's 1994! Really a terrible shambles of an experience, not to mention lifts not working on the day I arrived.
