"Very old hotel and it shows. The room was actually nice enough but the floor creaked with every step. The place was probably something in its day, but now it just looks old. And for the price I can get a Hilton hotel. Location is good and the view was great. Could not check in until 3, no exceptions. Also, it was cool when we were there and the steam heat did not seem to be adjustable. The windows allowed cold air to infiltrate because they are old. Not impressed."
"It is a small hotel (you could call it a large B&B) right in the Oban harbor. There is a pay and display parking lot right across the street - £7.50 for 24 hours. The ferry terminal is right behind the parking lot but you can't walk across the train track so you have to go around the block. Lots of stores and bars nearby and the disilois a short walk away. It has a small bar open in the afternoon and evening, and a small dining area for continental breakfast (not included - buy it the night before at the bar). For check in you'll find an envelope with the key on the small table by the entrance. For check out, you leave the key in the same place. Staff was very friendly. Now the catch - the building is old in and out and it shows. Though they keep it clean, it won't look like new. If I remember well, the price was reasonable and this is probably why. All room are upstairs (1 or 2 floors up) so if you have problems carrying luggage up a steep winding stair, this may not be for you."
"Great stay, easy check in, comfortable room.
Richard at the front desk was delightful, he went above and beyond to assist us during our stay. Thanks again!"
"Waterfront location was nice but you are isolated from shopping and other restaurants. The clerk at check-in was cold and pressured us to reserve and prepay for dinner and breakfast. Don’t.
While the parking is free, it’s unlikely to be available after 6 pm on weekends. If you leave for dinner good luck finding a space later.
We had dinner there one night and it was good but expensive for what you get. Our room was nice but not luxury class and cost $280 a night.
Unfortunately the combination of a snooty clerk and high price we would not recommend or return. I would stay in Ft. William instead."
"Lovely room with fantastic views. Really enjoyed the spa. Bed a bit too soft, but great to have bathrobes included.
Restaurant pricey but mains were good. Disappointed by desserts. Awful experience in the Sea Deck bar - service was dreadful and food mediocre. Most tables at knee level so not ideal for dining. Breakfast decent but nothing special - buffet only. Apart from the service in the bar, staff were great and we enjoyed our stay"
