Tucked away on one of the more quiet islands of the Bocas del Toro province in Panama, there is an ecolodge called 'Cocovivo'. Through a long chain of friends of friends, I discovered this little paradise where peacefulness is key. Originally set up as a co-working space, the owners of Cocovivo made this place a home away from home. Set up with the help of an indigenous Ngobe-Guble family, everything is ecological: yes, that means a compost toilet. If that does not convince you yet, then maybe the possibility to kayak surrounded by dolphins will. Or you can practice yoga on your stand-up paddleboard. Or jump from the diving board right in the Caribbean sea and explore the reef. Or go on a jungle walk and count all the sloths you can see. Or eat delicious food made with very very local ingredients. Or see the stars in the sky reflected in the water bioluminescent plankton. Who needs Bocas' party scene when you have the 'disco' lights above and underneath you right? "No hay suficientes palabras que hagan honor o lo maravilloso del sitio, la casa, la atencion. Es un paraiso terrenal. Imposible equipar mejor la casa, llevamos tantas cosas que ni falta hicieron ya que estaban en casa. El amanecer, el atardecer, el transcurrir del dia y de la noche es inexplicablemente asombroso en ese sitio. Deberia quitarles todos los puntos y calificarlos en 1 solo por quebrarnos el corazon de esa manera al tener que despedir la casa. Jejeje. Quien lea este mensaje y quiera...

"I have stayed here many times, and the relaxed vibe always brings me back. The grounds have one of the best sunset views. The staff is fun and attentive. We think the restaurant has some of the best food and drinks in Bocas. It easy to get a water taxi to Isla Colon or other islands. You can relax by the pool, enjoy the beautiful garden, or read a book in your over the water cabina."

"Only stayed for one night (Thursday), but the hotel was perfect for us! The only thing to be mindful about is the constant requests for taxis or tours (or what our plans are for tomorrow) at the nearby businesses on the street. But there’s not much the hotel can do about that, and it may be helpful for some tourists. "

"The Red Frog Resort is a beautifully located area. Although it rained for most of the time, the beach and property are amazing. We saw sloths, monkeys and of corse the red frogs throughout our stay. The staff was so nice and made us feel very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for a quiet and beautiful experience in Bocas. "

"This hotel was amazing and truly a gem in the area. It’s a little further from the main area but I enjoyed that aspect and there’s a dock right across to catch a water taxi. Very convenient. The front desk staff was so attentive and nice. Suli was especially kind to us! I would definitely stay here again! "

"We had a wonderful time staying in one of Koko aqua lodge’s over the water bungalow for a few days while visiting Bocas Del Toro,Panama….And what made it even better were the super friendly people who run the place in particular Heylis who is a great host and a real good singer in a local band…Thank you all ☺️"
