It was the most relaxing weekend you could ask for, it was so peaceful and the staff were amazing. Can’t recommend enough a weekend at Retreat East. Also the spa and food was amazing.
Our second time here and you can not fault this place . The rooms, the staff, the location are just perfect and the dogs are made to feel like VIP’s. The hot tub is lovely and the restaurant has such a nice ambiance about it ( and yes dogs are welcome in there too!)

Good but overall disappointing
Big spacious room
Able to get in earlier then expected
Great walks with maps of walks provided.
Sauna and steam were clean
Good complimentary items
Breakfast which was included was average at best.
Extractor fan in bathroom took 40 minutes to go off and had no switch to turn off
Tv in bedroom awkwardly placed
Windows in room covered in bird poo and sky light windows covered in webs
Service seemed a bit hostile not very welcoming
I wouldn’t say it was worth what I paid. Rather places like congham hall

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
It was okay, but for the price paid, and for a place that describes itself as ‘luxury’, I expected much more.
We had one of the more expensive rooms (‘the piggery’) and I can see that once upon a time it was nice but it was looking quite run down and shabby, it severely needed a lick of paint, repairing of fixtures and fittings and the garden area really needed some plants, decent furniture and shade (currently it feels like a driveway with a picnic bench and two chairs.)
Breakfast at the great barn wasn’t a great experience - staff seemed chaotic and on one day there was barely any food, drinks and juices had all ran out, no milk for the cereal etc. on another day we waited over half an hour for some coffees. We were meant to have dinner there but we cancelled because we weren’t filled with confidence following our breakfast experience!
On the positive side - the staff are lovely, the massages were good, and the location (if you’re happy to drive) was good for exploring Suffolk.
Overall I was disappointed and I’m not sure I’d recommend in its current state, but I hope they make some amends and improvements.
Absolutely gorgeous stay! Would definitely return and recommend to others. Would just like to see more option on the menu in the barn. A pasta and/or steak dish would be great.
Quite a nice quiet place but not worth anything like what they charge.
There were stains on the bed covers which they came and changed straight away.
Breakfast wasn't worth bothering with, hardly anything there on the continental option, we waited a while for drinks that didnt come so we gave up and left.
Wonderful get away at Retreat East. All very well thought through and very peaceful. Took our dog as it is very dog friendly as well. Lovely spa and massage during our stay but the food in the great barn was very seasonal and delicious. Will definitely be returning
Gorgeous place with a lovely spa. The top to toe massage/facial was fab. Super quiet which made for a much needed relaxing weekend.
My only negative was the mattress was really hard!
Wonderful rural chic farm that has been converted and had new designer barns set out in a chilled out location only 8 miles north of Ipswich and 5 minutes drive from the A14
