Very enjoyable stay. Excellent staff led by John the general manager, whose welcome is friendly and genuine. Top marks. Room comfortable if slightly very cramped . Excellent breakfast that used fine local ingredients. Dinner was good too, but a few of the dishes just need a little more finesse to make the Michelin guide. Overall, strongly recommended thanks to John and his team.

The hotel is in an idylic situation close to the castle, town square with easy access to great walks, that explore the surrounding village/town and countryside. Food is good, as are the rooms, car parking is tight but accessible. Plus loads of things to do within easy reach. Staff were all helpful, polite and made you very welcome.

Gorgeous place, very clean, lovely staff, high quality food. I can’t believe the breakfast is included because it was 5 star quality. The only note would be to add some conditioner as part of the toiletries in the room and maybe some smaller keys. Would recommend and stay again!

We only stayed for 1 night but we were so impressed with how comfy, clean and spacious the lodge was and also the location of the hotel such a beautiful setting with the castle very close by really picturesque. Hotel staff were brilliant very helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. The breakfast which was included in the price was delicious and the eggs Benedict were perfect with a nice runny yolk. We’ll definitely stay again as Orford is such a beautiful quaint place to visit.

Fabulous stay surrounded by peace & quiet

Fabulous stay in this characterful hotel with amazing views, excellent breakfasts, attentive & helpful staff. Walks from the doorstep along the estuary (car not used); boat trip to bird sanctuary - and seals; pretty village with selection of shops and riverside tearoom serving wonderful fresh crab sandwiches: perfect.
