A conveniently located hotel with large rooms

I would describe the Wyndham Grand Plaza as a four star hotel and not and 4.5 star. It is rather worn out and tired with a drinks lounge that offered little entertainment value and only a few armchairs in the lobby. The marble flooring is old and worn and the bath room fittings the same. The plus points are that it's well located, near the West lake and the room is very spacious. Breakfast is also quite adequate. Hangzhou, on the other hand, is a wonderful destination, green, low density (compared to other Chinese cities) with great food and nice people!

Just beside the famous West Lake, beautiful neighborhood, the facilities are new and advanced, friendly staffs. It looks like the hotel shares with other organizations in the same buildings, and it caused the confusion when I arrived. As it locates in the famous tourism area, you can imagine the area is pretty crowded.

I don't think this is 5 start hotel: 1) the property facilities are old, for example, the glass-door of shower room cannot prevent shower water leak to bathroom, always. 2) the swimming pool in basement is dark and dirty, with very bad smell, I didn't use but looked around. The fitting facilities and swimming pool are open to public, such as training groups, unsafe at all. 3) the main hotel entry door doesn't open to the street facing west lake (if so that'll be great), however, it's opening to a narrow street with busy traffic, looks like free-market.

Convenient and valued option

The hotel is located at the side of West Lake (perhaps some rooms have Lakeview). Next to the hotel is the Wulin Night Market, also many restaurants nearby. The room is very spacious and clean. Just the facilities looked a bit aged. There was a damp smell at the lobby of room floor but not inside the room. Overall, my stay was comfortable.

Old facility, no AC at 29 degree room temperature

I was locked in the bathroom of the first room I entered because the sliding door couldn't be opened from the inside if the bathroom door was completely closed. The second room was unbearably warm at 26 degrees Celsiu and no air conditioning. The thick winter bedding made the room temperature felt unbearable which prevented me from falling asleep. It faced a night market, making it too noisy to open the balcony door to have fresh and cool air. The third room was quieter than the first two but still lacked air conditioning, with the temperature reaching 29 degrees. As a result, I decided to cancel my third night.
