"We chose Alpine Burke’s Pass for our recent trip, and while the location was convenient—only a 20-minute drive to Lake Tekapo—the stay itself ended up being a disappointment for us. We had a car, so the distance wasn't an issue, but we found the accommodation lacked the attention to detail we were hoping for. Unfortunately, the cleanliness was not up to standard. Upon arrival, we noticed a persistent smell of mildew, especially in the bathroom area. We were also discouraged to find hair in the bathroom sink and in the bed before we had even settled in, along with some visible stains on the sheets and pillowcases. Furthermore, the bathroom fan seems to lead directly outside, which meant several small bugs were able to make their way into the room. We really wanted to love this spot, but these maintenance and hygiene issues made it difficult to feel comfortable. With a more thorough cleaning service and a few small fixes to the ventilation, this could be a great place to stay, but it didn't quite meet expectations this time around. It was definitely overpriced for what we got "
