Solid place at a good price
"I was quite happy with my stay at Barceló in San José. It is a good-sized resort that I was able to book for around $100/night. There are multiple restaurant options on site, the gym is very complete with lots of equipment, and there is a lush and very green area with walking paths behind the hotel. ..."

Eating perks need flexibility.
"The in-site restaurant opened at 6pm. We needed an early dinner so had to walk about 75 yards to the Denny’s up the road. Our flight was at 0530 so no breakfast for us. There should be a small rebate for those of us with early flights who miss buffet breakfast."

Mostly stayed in the hotel unless we went out of town for tours. Walked to a local store for snacks and bottled water but would not venture out after sunset -not many street lights.
