Front desk man was nice. Breakfast was pretty good, had scrambled eggs and sausage gravy with biscuits alongside with the usual toast, bagels and fruits. Pool looked a little rough, but had no plans to use it anyhow.

For the price we paid ($37/night) I can’t say enough about the value. The staff were all friendly and great and the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good for a free hotel breakfast (the typical cereal/yogurt/waffle machine/toast/juice/coffee plus scrambled eggs and biscuits and sausage gravy). The man who checked us in and seemed to be the main staff person was very friendly and competent. I would stay here again anytime I’m in Grinnell. The pool whitecoat could use some help (there are patches in it which look unsightly) but that doesn’t make a pool unsafe (I’m a certified pool operator so I know) but if the pool is important to you that might be one reason to stay elsewhere.

Property needs some major upkeep- owner was amazing for extension on us leaving a little later- biggest complaint is when we got into our room the smell of dog pee hit me so hard I was physically nauseous. We had to open the window to even be able to sleep- had we not have gotten into town so late we wouldn’t have stayed. Air fresheners were used to try and cover up the smell, but all it did was make it smell like lavender and dog pee. If you want to have a hotel where animals are allowed that is fine, but you need to make sure and deep clean a lot better. If I could ask for a refund, I would.

Bed springs on the mattress were poking me and the breakfast was minimal , but everything looks the same when your eyes are closed Budget friendly so don’t expect the 4seasons at a budget price. Would I stay there again? Yeah, why not,,,, just maybe a bed that doesn’t poke me in the back while I’m sleeping. Were there bugs? I don’t know because I didn’t want to check… don’t need those nightmares for 3 nights. But the employees were friendly

I found the bed to be inadequate to sleep comfortably. I don't know if it was too soft or the lower metal frame that was flexing like a metal can, but I could not find a comfortable spot and I slept across the top of the bed where the pillows usually are. I did these 2 nights and then left; the staff were nice but the bed was terrible

I was shocked by the potential stench of urine when I walked into my room. The room was filthy. Things were floating in the bathtub. Bathtub would not drain unless I held down the drain. Ceiling tiles had water damage and were sagging. Climate control system sounded like a helicopter. I saw several spiders in the room. I felt dirty staying there. The bed was very uncomfortable, noisy. I woke up with a sore upper back. Sleep in your car before choosing this place! It’s not worth it.
