This lodge looks nice and the staff are helpful. But it has a major problem with noise. The walls are paper thin. When I arrived, there was a whirring/rumbling noise outside my room. When I inquired, the staff said it was meant to be noise-cancelling. They really need to tear apart the walls between individual units and soundproof them. I've stayed in a lot of hotels and never been able to hear EVERYTHING in the next room. I was in a room with a loft and next door had one too, as I could hear them going up and down the stairs constantly. The walls posed no barrier for conversations at normal volumes. I think you get the point. Also for a place that has such a nice central area and wood finishing, the bathrooms are really lousy - super small shower stalls.

Le personnel etait tres courtois et disponible pour nous. L chambre etait propre, mais pas tout à fait finie. On voit que les rénovation ont été faite, mais il restait un peu de finition.

I really enjoyed my stay here and will absolutely come back the next time I visit Golden. It was a great value, I found it very comfortable, and I loved the view of the river and the ski resort from my room. Lodge + Lantern is a really neat old lodge that's in the process of being renovated. Some things in the hotel are new and modern (furniture, mattresses [very comfy], TVs), and some things are old and look a bit out of place (namely the carpet), but everything in my room worked perfectly. The rooms have some thoughtful amenities, such as fancy Nespresso machines, new mini fridges, and wireless phone chargers. I also really appreciated the high-quality sheets and towels. I'd recommend bringing ear plugs and/or a white noise machine though, as the walls are very thin and the noise insulation is minimal (which I guess is to be expected with such an old building). The lobby has a great common space with a classic stone fireplace, Sonos speakers playing relaxing music, comfy couches, and a big ol' TV (which ended up being a nice place to watch the Super Bowl). The icing on the cake is the location: a 12-minute drive to the ski resort and maybe a 10-minute walk to Whitetooth Brewing and a couple other cafes.

The Lodge & Lantern was going through some renovations when we were there, but when they’re done, this place will stand out even more. The staff was super friendly and attentive, available via text if not at the front desk (during off hours), the rooms were on the small side, but nice and clean with upgrades, views were good, and the lobby area always had a fire lit, so it was a nice extra place to hang out. We didn’t have a car during our stay, but this place was walking distance to town, we only needed a taxi to get the bus. The ski bus picks up from the hotel. Definitely recommend!
