"AMAZING STAY! Run by a very cute and welcoming family. They are the 6th generation to run a Ryokan here in this 300 year old building. They are excellent hosts. They serve delicious dinners and breakfasts. The dishes and bowls they use are pieces of art in themselves. The property is full of interesting and skilfully made antiques. "We stayed in a twin room and the room is really spacious. Also love the public bath, though small, it’s clean and serves its purpose. Breakfast is simple and not a lot of choices. But the food is fresh. They might wish to have a larger flask for the coffee though, as it seems to run out frequently. Parking is very convenient, right in front of the hotel. Hotel is also conveniently located along the main road, with a 7-11 next door. Will definitely stay again if I visit Shimada in future. "
