Friendly reception. Parked car at door. Spacious living area, good shower and toilet room. Very helpful staff. The property is a bit remote and I wouldn’t recommend walking to Franz Joseph as road is busy.

No glacier view but nice big room.

Huge room with kitchen and large bathroom. Very quite and peaceful. Comfy bed and fully equipped kitchen. The only downside is the wifi was very slow.

The managers are friendly. It’s a no frills accommodation and has everything you need. Bathroom has been refurbished and everything was clean. Kitchenette had everything you needed to cook simple meals. Had a small heater which did the job. Thank you

The last resort

Upon arrive the place looked derelict. The lawns and gardens were overgrown and in need of mowing and weeding. Checkin consisted of a girl running out and telling us there was a key in the door. The rooms were spacious and the bathroom has been renovated. The furniture looked like it was leftover from the second hand shop. The TV remote didn't work and heating is only a small space heater. There is no houskeeping and the office is only open in the afternoon. It is more than 2 minutes to town.

A motel that needs investment.

An empty motel in peak season was the first warning. Initial appearance on entering the room was good. A spacious well appointed bedroom kitchenette with en-suite bathroom. Lack of air conditioning. The mattress was so soft it made sleep uncomfortable.A tiny shower cubicle and a bathroom abundant in moths and black fly made me reticent to use it. We ran out of toilet paper which was so thin that we bought our own. A very friendly owner doesn’t compensate for an experience I would not like to replicate.

Sadly, communication with the hotel proved impossible. I was “stranded” down in the town area with the hotel a half hour walk up a steep hill with heavy luggage. Numerous phone call ignored. Eventually managed to get a lift to the hotel. When there, staff were kind and attentive. Accommodation better than average. Next morning I needed a lift into town to catch the bus. No one showed up at Reception at office opening time, not responded to my phone calls. I had to hitch a ride down in to town. Very, very poor communication skills.

The mattress was very soft. I believe needs updating. Had issues with hot water but after three visits from staff sorted. Expensive for what it was. But paying for amazing view
