The Flint RiverQuarium is a great aquarium and environmental education center located on the banks of the Flint River in Albany, Georgia. Opened in 2004, the aquarium is a huge space featuring a blue hole spring with more than 120 mysterious creatures. Find hands-on exhibits about the interesting ecosystems of the Flint River and enjoy fun shows including animal presentations, dive demonstrations and alligator feedings.

The Blue Hole Spring is one of the major attractions of the Flint RiverQuarium. In this 175,000-gallon (660-cubic-meter) spring see Georgia's extraordinary underwater world. Spot turtles, alligators and more than 100 different types of fish. Look for the panorama discovery points, which allow you to see the depths of this great Blue Hole Spring. 

Wander in the Flint River Gallery, where different creatures that live in the river are represented in individual exhibits. You’ll find freshwater and saltwater tanks that will help you understand the exciting marine animals living along the Flint’s path. Stop at Spring Run Creek to observe the fascinating alligators, including albinos. Have a look at the Hatchery, which has constantly changing exhibits showing a wide variety of fish raised from egg to adulthood. Have fun at the Discovery Caverns, where you can simulate controlling nature through different fun games and explore an underground cave.

While you are at the Flint RiverQuarium, be sure to visit the Cypress Pond Aviary located behind the aquarium. This enclosure houses beautiful native birds of the Flint River basin and several types of migratory birds. Vegetation such as Carolina jasmine, southern magnolia, cinnamon fern and trumpet honeysuckle have been planted in the aviary to recreate the natural environment of the birds. 

The Flint RiverQuarium is open every day except Monday and has an admission fee. Find this fun attraction at the northern end of Riverfront Park.
