"Great physical structure. Expansive, sweeping architecture. Check-in staff ( Karen) professional, helpful, inviting. But, some comments and questions:
Where was a free breakfast such as those offered by your competitors? The lobby has a snack bar of junk food and drinks but it’s closed most of the time. Nice fireplace, plenty of wood…never saw a fire in the fireplace. Spartan. Looks good…it’s just decoration.
What was the restaurant? It wasn’t. It was empty of patrons and food. There was only the small menu selections, slow wait staff.
Housekeeping? The room was clean and well maintained. But housekeeping never visited the next morning. Or afternoon. Or night. I went to the front desk and asked for linen.
Next night—same results. I went to the front desk and asked Karen ( thank goodness she was there) and got my own linens, coffee pods and creamers. In a word, housekeeping on the weekends suck. I met a nice housekeeping attendant on Sunday morning, and explained my situation. She apologized and rushed to my room and cleaned it right away. I gave her $10. You better keep her…she and Karen were the only staffers I found to be professional.
This hotel looks like a castle from the outside, but inside, it’s spartan, uninviting, poorly managed. The room rate was competitive, but Sheraton Hotels missed the details badly, and someone at Sheraton HQ should pay attention.
Won’t be back. There’s a Motel 6 a half mile away that’s a better choice."
