"We loved our stay. Clean and very large room with extra seating area and large bathroom. Very clean and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We walked the grounds and saw some seals swimming. We ordered an afternoon tea and had a little car trouble so we called to let them know we’d miss it and they packed up all the food for us to take with us the next day. So thoughtful. The bar and restaurant were great. The grounds and views are beautiful. It’s a little bit of a drive from anything else we’d planned to see in Scotland but worth it to slow down and enjoy the scenic grounds and castle. I highly recommend it. Stay at 2 nights to get the full benefit. One night isn’t enough to get the full castle away from it all feeling."
"This is a very good hotel , and the best value for money on the island. It is quite clearly an old hotel but very well looked after.
The one down point for me would be the attention to detail with the cleaning of the rooms.
The shower tray had hairs in it, the teaspoons and mugs were not clean. The carpet had quite a few "suspect" stains.
Would definitely stay here again, but covered everything we needed to do on the island so probably wont be back for that reason.
The breakfast was great."
"It was an interesting place to stay. It’s a listed property that is being renovated as allowed. We had a good sized bedroom but with noisy floors in the bathroom as well not too keen on electric showers but eventually got water at the right temp.
Breakfast started off being a challenge as there was nothing we wanted but we had a conversation and someone went shopping so all was well for the three days we were there.
The hotel must have been a really grand building as a lot of the original features exist still . The dining room has recently been decorated and is a very pleasant place to be. We only ate there once and the food was enjoyable.
Parking available on site and across the road the ferry to Gurock so very convenient. Close to Benmore botanic garden which is great and about 50 mins from the castle of the Dukes of Argyll well with visits"
"The room was clean and the amenities were fine. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly! That was the best part. The only small issue was how dark and small the bathroom was."
