we had room 502 which was a large room with four or five different windows looking in different directions. It was wonderful! The staff was consistently helpful and friendly and we highly recommend this hotel.

Scotsman Hotel in Edinburgh. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcome—especially Amelia, who went above and beyond to make our experience fantastic. Every staff member we met was kind and thoughtful. The breakfast was delicious, and the accommodations were incredibly comfortable—light, airy, beautifully decorated, and just perfect for relaxing. We genuinely felt at home, and it’s clear that the team cares about creating a special experience. I can’t wait to return, and I highly recommend it!

The hotel's location is unbeatable for walking from old town to the new town. One elevator was not working so we had to take an elevator to the 7th floor then walk up to the 8th floor to our room via the stairs. The morning was tough to get an elevator due to the cleaning staff. Overall, a great location, nice room and friendly staff. I probably would stay here again just for the charm despite the minor conveniences.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Wonderful Stay at The Scotsman We absolutely loved our stay at The Scotsman. The hotel was spotless, beautifully maintained, and incredibly comfortable. The staff were exceptional—welcoming, friendly, and genuinely helpful, which made our first trip to Scotland feel even more special. We also felt very secure throughout our stay. The hotel has a reassuring atmosphere, and everything from the building to the room access felt safe and well managed. The location couldn’t have been better. We had easy access to all the major attractions, restaurants, and sights, which made exploring Edinburgh effortless. We would highly recommend The Scotsman to anyone visiting the area. If we return to Scotland, we’ll definitely hope to stay here again.

I stayed at the Scotsman for my last night in Scotland. The hotel is lovely and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. I also had dinner in the connected restaurant. It was also very good and had the kindest waitress. I would definitely go back…. Today if I could. It has been an amazing experience!

Friendly, helpful staff—arranged transportation to airport for us. Nice rooms, well stocked fridge/bar. Wonderful breakfast, again very friendly staff making sure all of our needs were met. I only wish our stay was longer and would highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

We had the most amazing welcome by Ivor who showed us to our room and even brought our bags for us. The room had a strange smell to it and was quite noisy with banging noises from the above floor, I think we were located underneath a bar. The room was spacious though and clean with an amazing soaking tub.

The penthouse suite was amazing. The night we arrived, I went out onto the private balcony and just watched the sun set on the city while listening to bag pipes play from somewhere below. It was magical! The suite is laid out well and was perfect for our family of three, but be aware there are stairs throughout, including to the bathrooms. One of the couches in the living room contains a pull-out sofa, and there is a door you can shut to the living room, giving extra privacy for anyone staying in the living room. The bathrooms were spotless and the jetted tub and sauna & shower combo performed flawlessly. I think my *only* complaint on the bathroom is that the tub water never got really hot. And while everything was clean, but the walls were ready for a repaint (you could see countless marks and dings from luggage) and the carpets are due for a deep cleaning. The staff were all friendly and very helpful, and they kept fresh hot cocoa near the front desk. Anything we needed, they were happy to help with. The location of the hotel is incredibly convenient, being literally across the street from Waverly station. We took a train to another city one morning, and being so close to the train station saved us a lot of time. The food was probably the only real letdown. What we had at the hotel/cafe was not bad, but was just okay. Given the location and the amazing restaurants nearby, you have better choices within walking distance.

Very cool building and great location. The room we stayed in was just OK. It was fine which I don't have a problem with but the interior hallways were disgusting. Everything was stained, doors and handles were dirty, windows were not clean and there was only one working elevator for a fairly large hotel so it took forever.
