SCAM ARTISTS. I made a reservation at to OYO St.Andrews for March 10-March 12. I made it several weeks in advance. The afternoon of March 10–thirty minutes before check in time—I was informed that my reservation could not be honored due to “renovations.” I was told that my reservation had been moved to the OYO Arden Guest House which is 4 miles away. I had no interest in this arrangement as it was not the location I wanted and I did not have a vehicle. I asked for a refund. They said they could not give me one because I made the reservation through Expedia. I contacted Expedia who contacted them to confirm my reservation was not honored. They are now refusing to issue a refund through Expedia because I did not “use” my reservation. This is in spite of the fact that I provided them with both a text message confirming my reservation had been moved to a different location and a voice mail they left me confirming my reservation had been moved. Disgusting. The dishonesty is astounding. I paid for a service. It was not provided. Now they will not release my money for refund. This is a dishonest, incompetent establishment. Don’t give them your money unless you want to stay at a completely different location without the ability to get a refund.

Clean and cheap

Basic hotel room with shared bathroom facilities which were clean except the wet room bathroom a bit smelly. Good value as a budget hotel with self service breakfast included.

Stay at the OYO St Andrews Hotel

The hotel itself was nice, but on arrival our check in was very rushed and we actually weren’t given a room key until my partner asked. No en-suite bathroom but considering the price of the room and the fact there are only 14 bedrooms in the hotel, it wasn’t so bad sharing a bathroom and they were very clean and modern. The bin hadn’t been emptied on arrival and bedsheets were a bit dirty but overall the room was comfortable. When checking out, there was no one at reception and we were a bit nervous about leaving our keys, but we managed to hide them so no one else could find them (but hopefully the receptionist could!) Overall, I’d give it a 6/10 and to be honest for the great price and walking distance from the Edinburgh and the centre of Leith, it was worth it! Probably would stay again if we didn’t get a better deal elsewhere.

The bedrooms were comfortable, and bedding was clean. The manager was helpful, I was early checking in, so the manager took me along to the kitchen, where I made coffee and waited ten minutes until the room was ready. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel was situated in a central position, though not a part of town I would like to walk about late at night. The only criticism is the walls were very thin, and you could hear every word people were saying.

Wenn nicht unbedingt zwingend, dann anderes Hotel!

Die Liste ist lang, Hotelzimmer war genau so wie beschrieben und bebildert. Von den vorhandenen Lampen hat keine funktioniert, alle Glühbirnen waren defekt. Es fehlten die Handtücher, wurden später nach gereicht. Frühstück? Toastbrot mit Marmelade, Instant Kaffee und ein bisschen Saft. Küche war sehr unaufgeräumt und nicht sauber. Das schlimmste am Hotel, die Hellhörigkeit, man hört jeden im Hotel. Das laute Türen schließen, Gespräche der Nachbarzimmer. Schlafen war kaum möglich. Zu laufen ins Zentrum dauert es 45min. Es nicht mehr als ein besseres Hostel.

Overpriced even for budget “hotel”

The only reasonable fact about this “hotel” is that there is a bus line between the city centre and the docks, without the bus it is a 20-25 minute walk to princess street which was fine for me. I understand my stay was during the Fringe Festival and I had made the booking the week prior, however there is no excuse for the quality and level of service of this location compared to the price. It is more accurately a glorified hostel. Pictures show a reasonable clean and modern room with plenty of white paint, which is not false, but the reality doesn’t hide how cheap the materials are. There were 2 small bathrooms (toilet/ electric shower and sink) shared to at least 7 bedrooms, I didn’t count for the ground or top floor bathrooms, that’s if they even existed... shower was dirty and bedsheets were certainly not “spotless” with a large mark on the main sheet. In the room you are offered a kettle, a cup, a glass and a very small selection of tea/ coffee and sugar. No shower soap available which to me is a standard provision and a necessity for someone who packs light. Even a refill installation in the shower would be the least that could be provided. Breakfast was included but finishes at 09:30, which I was not aware of at 09:55 and told to look in the fridge if I wanted... Actual service was non existent. I was handed the room key and that was it. I won’t be returning or making any recommendation regardless of price.

Værelset var meget lille . Seng var dårlig . Der bliv ikke redt seng i de 4 dage vi var der. Vindue var møg beskidt. Morgen mad var under alt kritik. Sad i en slidt køkken ved gamle cp borde , plas til 8 , men kun plads til 5. Det var toastbrød i en pose. Syltetøj , nutella, juice.. mælk og en stor bøtte smør .Så kunde du selv koge noget vand . Til te eller kaffe. Det var det der var ingen personale . Så kunne du selv Ryde af og stille i opvaskemaskinen hvis der var plads . Gammel mad i gryder på komfuret.

Shared bathrooms- Imagine going up and down the stairs for parents and kids. Clogged baths, running out of toilet paper. Although shared bath was mentioned in the fine print at the time of booking, I'm not sure if shared baths classify as a hotel. The person at reception was helpful and did his best but this hotel has inherent issues. Location is around motor garage, noisy, cramped street parking. Patchy / weak wi-fi. Basic breakfast.

The property was extremely dirty. Had no air conditioning. The room was in poor condition and the bed was dirty. No front desk and no one to contact. Bathroom was shared and was extremely filthy. People kept shouting and smoking in hall all night and the place stunk. Would have left and went somewhere else if I hadn’t arrived so late.

Schlichte, aber günstige Unterkunft, so dass das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis sehr gut ist. Das Personal ist sehr nett und hilfreich. Allein die Dusche hätte etwas komfortabler sein können, da der Abfluss für das Duschwasser auf einer Ebene mit dem Boden liegt und man etwas "wischen" muss. Die Unterkunft liegt im alternativen, sehr abwechslungsreichen Viertel Leith, wo es verschiedene Läden, Bars und Restaurants gibt.
