  • We had a great ride on the Durango & Silverton Railroad. Lots of snow melt and some whitewater rapids that were off the scale. Several avalanches have occurred near train lines this Spring. We stopped for a couple hours in Silverton for quick bite to eat and shop. Silverton, CO reminded us of our recent inner passage cruise that stopped in Skagway, Alaska.

The housekeeping staff were so sweet. We love the staff and seeing them year after year (like John). We were unhappy with the people below us complaining about every little thing (first time ever for us anywhere). Brandon handled it the best he could. Hoping that family will show a more exclusive resort. We love how dog and family friendly this location is. We are already booked again!

We were greeted by John who made us feel like he had been awaiting our arrival the whole day. John was happy, kind and had the warmest and friendliest smile I have seen all that day! After an 8 hour drive with kids, it was truly wonderful to feel so welcomed. Breakfast was great every morning and the two ladies who were working each morning were so kind and friendly too! Each morning staff member welcomed us down like they made breakfast just for me and my kids. I have never felt so welcomed in a hotel before! This was one of the greatest hotel experiences I have had in a very long time! I will definitely book this hotel on my return.

Place was ok but needs updating. Had to request room service, healthy breakfast choices were limited, further from center of town than described. Extra charge to park a vehicle but impossible to get around without one. Two bedroom suite was spacious with nice kitchen.

The room above us started banging and making a lot of noise at about 2:30 am. Around 3:30 am I called the front desk to complain. The noises finally stopped around 4:00 am. When I spoke to the front desk in person in the morning it was the same staff that I talked to at 3:30 am. He said “they should know better”, and that they were extended stay guests. He told me that it shouldn’t happen again for the next night. He seemed very dismissive and unprofessional towards me and the whole situation.

Our room was just outside of the patio where the grill and setting was. People were partying way past 2:00am . It was so loud we couldn’t sleep. Paid way too much money for such inconvenience . Very poor customer service and management

Great hotel

The front desk staff was really great! The coffee was really great, the breakfast was above average (egg white fritt for the win) and the staff was super nice and helpful. Loved this location and would highly recommend for anyone traveling through Durango.

I booked through Expedia and everything was great I got to the Hotel and the guy behind the Counter, John, told me that they didnt have a room for me even though i had confirmation of a room and my payment went through. He also told me that the 3rd party over booked and there was nothing he could do. So, I called the Expedia and straightened it out and they contacted the hotel and the hotel was actually the ones that over booked by not updating their website. Expedia was able to get my payment back and helpful in resolving the issue.

The breakfast was considerably better than other hotels. The fire alarm at midnight was inconvenient and apparently not all that necessary. This is a nice hotel and I recommend it.

Evening Staff was excellent!

Within walking distance of train depot and great restaurants. Evening staff was extremely helpful and attentive to needs of guests…made recommendations, gave directions, etc. Morning staff was just the opposite. Breakfast was a joke … there was one lady attempting to do everything…she was doing her best but she needed help to ensure all guest was served in a timely manner.

Overpriced Option

We enjoyed the extra room of their 2bdrm suite but given the pool was cold and dark (not family friendly), no ice machines available, parking available only at an extra charge, breakfast was hit and miss for a Residence Inn was vastly overpriced.
