Look past Port Esperance and spot the bay's three islands, charmingly named Hope, Faith and Charity. The 15-kilometre (9-mile) Adamsons Peak hike takes around 4 hours.
No visit to Dover is complete without exploring Southwest National Park, its enormous neighbouring reserve. Drive down the Gordon River and Scotts Peak roads to enjoy magnificent views of this mountainous landscape. There is a fee to enter the national park.
Dover is a 75-minute drive from Hobart. Once in town, park the car and get around on foot.
