Staff was very helpful in anything you asked them. They picked us up and dropped us off at the train station with no issues. Breakfast was very good as well. The hotel is 200 years old, and you can tell in some areas, but for the most part the rooms were plenty for us for a couple of days. Will stay there again.

This is my first visit to this beautiful hotel, and I am so thrilled to have found this gem of a hotel in Desenzano del Garda. I was warmly greeted by Simone, who brought me to pick up my friend at the train station. Then, we were both greeted by Federico, whose customer service is outstanding, along with Simone, and Luis. Federico gave us a lot of information about the village, and offered suggestions for dinner. He, and the entire staff truly care about their guests. The location is amazing-right next to ferry stop. It is a hotel with an amazing history-I am filled with gratitude to have found this gem of a beautiful hotel. Thank you to the entire staff for making us feel so welcome.

Very lovely front desk staff and the spa was great. Although the views from the room were beautiful and location was great, unfortunately the decor in the rooms was incredibly dated and they didn't offer any room service.

Stayed in the spacious junior suite with a beautiful view of the lake. We had a little balcony. We enjoyed the spa facilities - clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for walking to restaurants and taking the boat to Sirmione. Good staff.

Fabulous balcony overlooking lake

The balcony overlooking the lake was the highlight of the stay. The room was a little tired and the outside of the building in desperate need of some maintenance but could look at that view all day.

A Italian gem. Splendid!

Property is authentic and clean. We were in a lake view with balcony. Was lovely sitting out in the evening. Receptionists are warm and friendly, even came to collect us from train station. Hallways and stairs beautiful. Breakfast was extensive and nice overlooking lake. A real gem of a beautiful place.

The spa facilities were very nice. I wasn’t aware there was a charge to use the facilities. That’s ok, but guests can’t get access to spa and until 3:00 in afternoon and must book it for 3 hours. I like morning soaks or at least at my convenience, not the hotel’s.

Excellent hotel in an amazing location

The Hotel Mayer was a great place to stay for our short break in Desenzano and we'd happily stay here again. The hotel and room was very clean and comfortable with an unexpected partial view of the lake from the balcony. The noise insulation was brilliant given we were overlooking a very busy square. Reception staff were friendly although it was a bit more hit and miss at breakfast. There was plenty of choice of options to eat, however. The location is perfect - central and on the waterfront, but just a 10 minute walk (albeit uphill) to the station.

We had to stay longer due to my husband being poorly. The night porter was extremely helpful when we needed an ambulance. Hotel staff even collected us from the local hospital and take us back to the hotel. Fantastic service when we needed help.

Excellent location, just across road from lake ferry, rooms facing lake are superb, the waiter serving drinks to us all week was very attentive, and lots of places to eat within 5 minutes walk. The breakfast in the hotel was really good, didn't take lunch or evening meals in the hotel as we like to venture out, but the dining room is in an ideal location facing the lake. The walk back to the train station, although only 15-20 minutes walk, is all uphill and a taxi to take us there with our cases was difficult to find on the day of leaving. The reception manageress was kind enough to take us there in her own car (a 5 minute drive). All in all, it's definitely a place I would visit again and well worth the 5 stars.

We stayed for two nights and enjoyed our stay. We had a corner room with a large balcony with table, chairs and parasol. The room looked over the marina and out towards the lake as well as the square. Staff were very helpful and friendly. They provided a driver to take us to the station on departure. Our room was large and traditionally decorated. It felt a little tired but was perfectly comfortable. Due to the location of the hotel overlooking bars and restaurants, the room was noisy on our second night as a rock band were playing outdoors. Not the hotels fault but something to be aware of. We did not use the spa so cannot comment. Breakfast was very good. The ferry to Sirmione and other places was available right outside the hotel.
